SMS Gymnasts
Rachael Barton and Emma Jurcich, are Level 7 gymnasts on the X-treme Gymnastics Competition Team in Middleburg Heights, OH. They train 16 hours a week, year round, in order to perfect their craft. During the months of December-April, they travel to compete in USAG sanctioned meets all over the state, as well as neighboring states and travel meets.
After a phenomenal season, both Barton and Jurcich recently attended the 2024 Ohio State Championships in Columbus, OH where they competed against Ohio's best. Individually, Barton received a 9.025 (PR) on Vault, 8.75 on Beam, and 9.425 (PR) on Floor. Jurcich received an 9.675 (PR) on Vault, 8.80 on Bars, 9.175 on Beam, 9.425 on Floor, and a 37.10 All Around. Jurcich's 9.675 Vault score earned her the title of 2024 Ohio State Vault Champion in her age division! In the Team competition, both Barton and Jurcich contributed to the team score of 114.525 (PR) finishing in 4th place out of 47 teams in the state of Ohio!
Jurcich also qualified to compete in the 2024 Regional Championships the weekend of April 19-21 in Dayton, OH!
We are incredibly proud of Rachael and Emma and cannot wait to see what's in store for them in the future. Watch out for these stars next year on the Strongsville High School gymnastics team - big things are coming!
