Around the Den
September is here!
September is here and we have all hit our stride with the back to school routine! Lets hope that some cooler weather is heading our way too! With the warmer days, we do have a monitoring system that keeps track of the heat and humidity and warns us when students activity outside should be limited. We use this to monitor outside time during recess and PE time. It is always part of our measures to keep students safe.
Curriculum Night- New Date
Thank you all for your understanding and patience regarding the power outage and rescheduling of our Curriculum Night. Good news we have a reschedule date of Tuesday, September 1st at 5:00pm. Teachers will host two separate informational sessions. You may attend from 5:00-5:30 OR 5:30-6:00. Please arrive on time for these classroom presentations. As a reminder, this is not the best time for an individual student conference. If you wish to discuss your child individually, you may request for a parent conference.
Let's talk about shorts!
I know that it isn't something that we would think to be a large topic of conversation, but we need to address this aspect of the dress code. Please remember that shorts must be finger tip length for all students. This is to protect skin for potential skin irritation and to ensure that accidental exposure doesn't happen. We see many students wearing the lightweight fabrics that flow and can easily show more than intended. Please be mindful of their length. Additionally, many students wear hoodies or sweatshirts on the top, and the shorts are not visible (ie: the top is longer than the shorts). This is also not acceptable. Shorts must be visible. Leggings are always recommended. They are not only comfortable, but the provide coverage! Dress code concerns will result in a phone call home to help address the problem, or alternative clothing will be provided.
Thank a Teacher
One of the greatest strengths of Bear Creek is our exceptional educators. We invite parents, students, staff, and community members to recognize outstanding teachers for the 37th Annual Golden Apple Awards, presented by Champions For Learning. Thank-A-Teacher nominations are open through September 16, 2026. These nominations not only provide an opportunity to express appreciation for the remarkable teachers who make a difference every day, but they also play an important role in identifying Teachers of Distinction who are considered for Golden Apple honors. From our Assistant Principal
We are so happy to see all our returning Cubs for our second school year at BCR! We are also excited to welcome some new faces to our school community! The students are off to a great start with following our schoolwide expectations of We Are B-C-R: Be Respectful, Care for Others, and Reach for Success. This pledge and our Leader in Me initiatives unite our staff and students with common language and expectations for all classrooms and areas around our campus.
In the classroom there may be some minor behaviors that our teachers will begin to address with your student(s). These minor behaviors may include some of the following: failure to follow rules and procedures, disruption of learning, and off-task behaviors. These behaviors may result in a Minor Classroom Infraction that will be documented and sent home by the classroom teacher. A fourth minor classroom infraction results in a major referral that comes to administration. We will follow a progression of discipline for these types of behaviors included in the chart below.
At home, have conversations with your students about their day and discuss specific examples of being respectful, caring for others, and reaching for success. We look forward to the continued growth of our BCR Cubs!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Vollrath

Counselor Corner
We are off to a wonderful start to the school year, and it has been so exciting to see students settling into their classrooms, making connections, and building our school community! I look forward to supporting all students as they learn and grow throughout the year.
During my classroom visits this month, we will be focusing on friendship and acceptance. Students will explore ways to be kind, respectful, and thoughtful, while learning skills for building positive relationships with their peers. These lessons help create a school environment where every child feels valued, supported, and connected.
Please know that I am here to support not only our students, but also your family. Whether your child needs help navigating friendships, managing emotions, adjusting to school routines, or facing other challenges, I am always happy to partner with you. Together, we can help ensure a successful and positive school year for every student.
I look forward to a fantastic year ahead!

It's a Great Time to be a Girl Scout!
Girl Scouts helps girls become confident leaders, courageous problem-solvers, and compassionate changemakers. Through new experiences, lasting friendships, and opportunities to serve their communities, girls discover their strengths, find their voice, and learn they can make a difference. Every adventure builds confidence, every challenge inspires growth, and every accomplishment reminds them of what they're capable of achieving. In Girl Scouts, girls don't just explore the world around them, they learn they have the power to change it!
