Principal Update

5/27/22

PrincipalUpdate5/27/22

Dear LP Families,

Happy Friday (a day early!)

I need your help. The end of the year is upon us and we only have one PTA officer position filled. Thank you, Kristin Daly for agreeing to be our PTA president next school year! We are currently looking to fill 4 more positions: Vice President, Treasurer, Recording Secretary, & Membership Chairperson. I am concerned that if we do not find volunteers for these positions then we will not be able to run our beloved home-school community events. These events include the Glow dance, 5th grade picnic, talent show, fundraisers, and more!

I promise these positions are not hard and you do not need past experience to apply! I have included a description of each position below for your review. Training is available, we just need family members to be a risktaker and support the school. Please email

laureltonpardeepta@gmail.com or meghan_bello@eastiron.monroe.edu if you're interested.

Also, please enjoy the long weekend as there is no school Monday, May 30th in observance of Memorial Day. On behalf of our Laurelton-Pardee community, we remember and honor those who gave the ultimate sacrifice so that we may enjoy the freedoms we do today. Thank you for your service.

Enjoy your weekend,

Dr. Bello

Wishtree Family Resources

Below, you will find a few resources to enrich your experience reading Wishtree with your child at home. The family guide has some fun family activities and questions about chapters, the video series captures staff reading chapters aloud, and the calendar helps keep track of where we should be in the story. These are all optional of course but we hope you will enjoy this time with your child.

News from Mrs. Costello

This week was the last week to check out books as we start to wind down the year. Over the next few weeks, students will continue coming to the library for read alouds and activities, but the focus will shift to collecting all materials that have been checked out. This week, the library hosted GAME DAY as we countdown the days of the year - students loved playing board games with friends! Next Friday is our school wide assembly to celebrate the end of our One School, One book reading of Wishtree - students will have the opportunity to represent their grade level and show off what they know. We can't wait!

Report Card Update:

Dear Parents,

Our district hopes this letter finds your families happy and healthy. Enclosed you will find a paper copy of your child’s report card. You will also receive a paper copy of the report card in March. However, for the final report card in June, we will not be sending a paper copy. At that time, we will ask that you access your child’s report card through the parent portal in Infinite Campus. You will need a parent portal account to do this. Below are the directions on how to create a parent portal account. If you already have a parent portal account, you can access the report card now in the portal.

We felt it was important to communicate this now, so we have time to support you in this transition. We will resend these directions in March and principals will continue to share this information in their building communications. In June, if you need a paper copy, we will most certainly respond to this request. We will send more details as that final marking period comes to a close.

Please let us know if you have any questions.

Sincerely,

Terri Robson

Parent Portal Instructions:

In order to create a parent portal account, you will need to have an email address on file with the district before you begin. If you do not already have an email address on file with the district you will need to call the main office of your student's school from a phone number associated with you and your student in order for them to update your information. If you have neither an email address nor phone number on file with the district, you will need to visit your student's main office in person.

  1. Visit www.eastiron.org, click on the Infinite Campus link, select Campus Parent and click the "Click here to request a parent portal activation key" link on the Campus Parent homepage. You may also choose to go directly to the URL below.
    https://ic.eastiron.monroe.edu/campus/portal/custom/requestActivation.jsp
  2. Enter the email address that you provided to the district in the box and click the "Submit" button.
  3. You will receive an email with your activation key.
  4. Click the "New User" link on the Campus Parent homepage (refer to step 1 if necessary).
  5. Enter your activation key in the box and click the "Submit" button.

  1. Enter your desired username, password, confirm your password and click the "Submit" button.

Just a reminder!

Please remember to bring your license with you if you are picking up your child(ren) from school. This is a required school protocol. Thank you for your cooperation!
