Absence Line & Email Address: 781-383-6115; DHS-notes@cohassetk12.org.
Teacher Assignments: Teacher assignments will be published in Aspen on Monday, August 18. Class placement is a thorough, complex, and thoughtful process that is completed in the spring. This letter was shared in our April newsletters to provide additional context. While I'm always available to have conversations about ways to support students in ensuring a positive school year, thank you for understanding that no changes will be made to teacher assignments.
From the PSO -- Order Your School Supplies: We hope you’re having a wonderful summer so far! It may seem early to be thinking about school supplies, but we are happy to say you can go ahead and check that box off your list by purchasing your supplies from School Tool Box! Just click on the graphic linked below and select your child’s grade - the teachers have worked hard to come up with lists of what your child will need for the year! Please know you are not obligated to buy through School Tool Box - you can use these lists as a guide to purchase your supplies elsewhere! (And please be aware, if you are unable to purchase your own supplies, no child will go without what they need at Deer Hill!)
Follow CPS on Facebook: Cohasset Public Schools has a new Facebook page. Thanks for following us and stay tuned for more content as we get up and running.
Deer Hill Happenings
Staff Updates: Deer Hill is excited to share the following updates to our staffing for this school year.
- Mrs. Cassandra O'Brien, our Instructional Technology Specialist, will be assuming responsibility for our technology classes. Mrs. O'Brien is a veteran CPS teacher who has spent the last ten years collaborating with classroom teachers on their technology integration as well as fulfilling other behind the scenes responsibilities. We're fortunate to have Mr. Charlie Saluti remain on our staff as an ESP.
- With the retirement of Mrs. Hamlin, our health teacher, Mr. Brett Youmans will be assuming responsibility for our health and wellness instruction. In addition to their weekly gym class, students will participate in an additional health & wellness class with Mr. Youmans every 3 weeks (rotating weeks by grade level).
- Mrs. Kelly Frasier, formerly a 3rd grade teacher, will be joining the grade 5 team. Mrs. Frasier will be working with Mrs. Kara DeSalvo, a veteran 5th grade teacher, in a job share partnership. In this model, each teacher will be present in the classroom for 50% of the workweek coupled by ongoing, seamless communication. Mrs. Frasier and Mrs. DeSalvo are excited for this opportunity, one they have been thoughtfully planning for over a year.
- Welcome to Ms. Meghan Greaney, our new Special Education Team Chair. Ms. Greaney joins us from Cohasset Middle School where she served as the school psychologist.
- Welcome to two new classroom teachers, Mr. Noah Edge and Ms. Abby Bizzozero. Mr. Edge joins us from Hingham Schools and will be teaching 3rd grade. Ms. Bizz joins us from Plymouth Schools and will be teaching 4th grade.
Mr. Edge has been busy this summer coaching youth baseball and is looking forward to sharing his love of music with students this school year.
Ms. Bizz has been busy this summer surfing, “arting”, and skating at Levitate camps, while also spending time with her family! She is looking forward to meeting everyone for this upcoming school year!
- Welcome to Ms. Jean Lasik, our new daytime lead custodian and Mr. Aguinaldo Logan (Mr. Gigi), a new night custodian. Both Ms. Lasik and Mr. Gigi are joining us from Cohasset Middle and High schools. Along with our other custodians, Mr. Sean Bannen and Mr. John Bibby, they have been working hard to make our building sparkle for the start of school!
