Prayer to St. Dorothy ๐
By the radiance of thy holy life
You were counted worthy of divine glory
and did send roses and apples
from Paradise to Theophilus.
O Dorothy, ask that we who praise you,
may receive forgiveness of our sins,
through Christ, our Lord.
Amen.
A MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL ๐
Dear Bruin Family,
Every member of our community, from students and parents to teachers and staff, deserves a well-earned pat on the back! As both a principal and the father of two students, I can say without hesitation that returning to school and settling back into our routines is no easy task. Yet, together, we persevered and had a successful first week. Now the weekend is here, and it is certainly well deserved!
While there may have been a few tired evenings this week, it has been absolutely wonderful to have students back in our classrooms. Even when everyone is indoors, you can feel their energy throughout the office and around campus. Their presence brings our school to life. This week, we focused on establishing routines and beginning our learning journey. Next week, we will truly hit the ground running as we dive deeper into the curriculum.
I would also like to thank our parents for entrusting us with your children this school year. It is a responsibility we do not take lightly, and I am excited to witness the growth and accomplishments of our Bruins in the months ahead, one small step at a time.
Sincerely,
Mr. Ryan Nearhoff

CHILD SAFETY ๐จ
Did You Know?
August 22-23 || Back to school with a culture of safety
When it comes to schools and programs that serve children, it is critical to have a culture of safety that protects children from sexual abuse. Examine your childโs school or programs for evidence of this culture โ look for values that emphasize child safety and decisions that put children at the center while allocating resources for safety. This can look like compliance with federal and state laws, professional ethics and standards, and a culture that encourages youth and families to get involved. For more information, read the VIRTUSยฎ article โHigh Stakes: A Culture of Safety for Every Childโ at lacatholics.org/did-you-know. Information about the Archdiocese of Los Angelesโ efforts and protocols to protect children and vulnerable adults in our churches, schools and ministries is available at https://lacatholics.org/protect/.
Mission Statement
To educate TK-Eighth grade students in a Catholic environment in which the curriculum emphasizes spiritual, ethical, and social values of the Catholic faith to become responsible and moral citizens within the global community.
Philosophy
Supporting the belief that parents are the primary educators of their children, we as educators at St. Dorothy Catholic School, dedicate ourselves to partner with the parents in preparing children to become contributing members of the community. To achieve this, we provide holistic development in psychological, emotional, social and physical health, with an emphasis on academics, faith, and Christian service.
In collaboration with parents, we champion student achievement through the presentation, practice, and study of Catholic doctrine, a strong academic curriculum, multimedia and multi-cultural experiences, physical education, extracurricular programs, and the dedicated commitment of the teachers and staff.
