Dear Booker Families, Staff, and Scholars,

As we enter the final days of the school year, I want to thank our entire Booker community for your continued support, commitment, and partnership. With only 13.5 days remaining, our campus remains focused on finishing the year strong academically, behaviorally, and safely while also celebrating the incredible accomplishments of our scholars and staff.

First and foremost, I must once again recognize our incredible teachers and staff for the unwavering dedication, passion, and excellence they bring to Booker every single day. Your commitment to building relationships, engaging scholars in meaningful learning, striving for success, and treating every child with kindness does not go unnoticed. Because of you, our students continue to grow academically, socially, and emotionally. Booker is better because of YOU.

📚 Last Week of Testing & EOY Assessments

This week marks our second week of district EOY testing, including make-up testing and remaining End-of-Year (EOY) assessments. These assessments help us measure student growth, determine instructional needs, identify enrichment opportunities, and prepare students for a strong start next school year.

⏰ Attendance, Tardies & Daily Instruction Matter

Even though the school year is winding down, learning continues every single day. We need all scholars present, on time, and engaged through the very last day of school. Every minute counts as we complete assessments, end-of-year projects, celebrations, and transition activities.

📚 Book Fair This Week!

Our Booker Book Fair will be open Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday from 8:00 AM–3:00 PM each day! Families are welcome to come shop with their child during the school day and help encourage a love for reading and learning. We look forward to seeing our Bengals excited about books and building their home libraries. Thank you for supporting literacy at Booker!

🎈 Field Day Is This Friday!

We are excited to celebrate Field Day this Friday and look forward to a fun-filled day for our scholars! Families who plan to attend are strongly encouraged to preregister before Friday in order to receive a preprinted visitor name tag and avoid long check-in lines on the day of the event. Preregistering will help us ensure a smoother, faster, and safer entry process for all guests. See flyer below!

⭐ Finish Strong, Finish with Pride

As we enter the final days of school, we are expecting good behavior, respectful interactions, and a laser-focused finish from all scholars so everyone can safely enjoy our exciting End-of-Year festivities. This week and next, students will have opportunities to participate in several special events, including:

• The Booker Book Fair - Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday only!
• Field Day on Friday
• 5th Grade End-of-Year Celebration Week
• Awards Assemblies
• Kindergarten Graduation
• 5th Grade Graduation

These activities are privileges, and we want every scholar to participate and celebrate their accomplishments. However, please understand that privileges may be revoked at any time by campus administrators for any violation of the Student Code of Conduct, including bullying, fighting, horseplay, disrespectful behavior, inappropriate language, or unsafe actions. We ask all families to remind students daily about demonstrating Booker Best expectations:

• Build positive relationships
• Engage in the learning
• Strive for success
• Treat others with kindness

Together, we must finish strong and finish with pride as we close out another successful school year at Booker Elementary! Striving for Excellence in Culture, Academics, and Results, Every Day!

With gratitude and pride,

    Important Notes

    • District Scheduling: Districts set the specific days within the TEA-provided windows.
    • Optional Tests: STAAR Interims (for practice) and the Through-Year Assessment Pilot (TTAP) are optional for districts. STAAR Field Tests to collect data to improve future assessments.
STATE TESTS ARE IMPORTANT! YOUR CHILD'S PARTICIPATION & PERFORMANCE MATTER!

Mindset of Mastery – No Mediocre Thinking Allowed

    Booker Families,

Please take time to encourage your child and remind them why it is so important not to rush, but instead to do their very best on every test. District and state assessments matter because they help schools make important decisions about the support and opportunities students may need. A child’s performance can help determine whether additional academic support, intervention, summer learning, or enrichment and advanced opportunities may be recommended for the upcoming school year.

Assessments such as STAAR and TELPAS provide valuable information about your child’s academic progress and language development. These results help schools identify strengths, address learning gaps, and plan the right instructional supports to help each child grow. They can also help guide future academic pathways and readiness for more advanced coursework and opportunities.

State assessments and screeners serve as important indicators of student progress and college, career, and military readiness over time. They give schools and families a snapshot of how students are performing and where additional support may be needed to ensure long-term success. That is why we ask every student to slow down, stay focused, and give their best effort on every assessment.

So we need your help more than ever now! For the next fews weeks, we will need you to support and encourage your scholars to:

    • Do their BOOKER BEST ON EVERY TEST
    • BE HERE ON TESTING DAYS

    • BE ON TIME ON TESTING DAYS

    • BE READY & LASER FOCUSED!

    • BE KIND AND RESPECTFUL TO THEIR PEERS & STAFF

    • BE WILLING TO WORK & LEARN

    • BE AN ACTIVE LISTENER

    • BE THEIR BEST SELF

    • BE AN ADVOCATE FOR THEIR OWN ACADEMIC SUCCESS

    • BE A PROUD BENGAL!

    • BE THE ONE THAT MAKES SOMEONE DAY!

STAAR IS HERE! IT STARTS THIS WEEK! LET'S KEEP THE MOMENTUM DONE!
