Cultural Corner

Mexico celebrates their country’s Independence Day with fireworks, parties, food, dance, and music on September 16th. The celebrations are similar to what we do in America on the 4th of July. Flags, flowers and decorations in the colors of the Mexican flag – red, white and green – are seen in public areas in cities and towns all over Mexico. "Viva Mexico" is shouted amongst the crowds on this day.

Marlins, this week we’re asking: On which day do Mexicans celebrate Mexico’s independence? Place one answer slip in a Cultural Corner box by the end of the school day this Thursday for your chance to win a prize. Your Student Council members will select 1 primary and 1 upper grade student from a raffle during Friday morning announcements.
