Directly afterward, the High School Marching Band will be joined by band members from the Middle and Intermediate Schools to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the iconic movie, “Back to the Future” featuring Huey Lewis’s “The Power of Love” and Chuck Berry’s “Johnny B. ANTI-BULLYING WEEK ✋🚫🤝💪

KINDNESS WEEK 💛🤗🌈🕊️

Sponsored by the 4th Grade Student Leadership Team

“POWER for GOOD” is the theme for this year’s Anti-Bullying/Kindness Week! Whether you are at school, home, in the community or online, reaching out to support and being kind to others is so important. This is why we are using our “POWER for GOOD” to prevent bullying behaviors at NSE. In October, students will begin talking about the definition of bullying, how bullying affects all of us, and what we can do to stop it through classroom discussions and classroom guidance lessons with Mrs. Dugan, on the announcements, and in the classroom! Join us this week by participating in theme days as we work hard to make a difference by stopping bullying behaviors, helping others, and being kind! We all have the POWER for GOOD!

If your kiddo missed picture day on Tuesday, September 16, here is there chance to grab the spotlight!

✨ Dress in comfortable clothes and avoid large logos, bold graphics, bright fluorescent colors, or green (as it can affect the final photo).
✨ Practice natural smiles 😁—relaxed and genuine always look best.
✨ Check hair, collars, and accessories so they’re neat and picture-ready.

Our students at New Salem are continuing to work hard and doing a terrific job demonstrating many of the Project Team traits on a regular basis! Students are being recognized for their efforts, and we are quickly approaching our goal of 7,500 tokens. To reward them, we will be having our first school-wide Project Team Celebration on Friday, October 31st, with an afternoon fall-themed BINGO!

To make this event memorable, we need your help! We are seeking prize donations to award our BINGO winners, helping to support this activity. Specifically, we are looking for items that can be purchased at a cost of $5.00 – $10.00 at some local retail shops (e.g., Five Below, Family Dollar, Dollar General, Walmart, Target, etc.). Some examples include plushies, Squishmallows, soccer balls, dodgeballs, basketballs, board games, art supplies, etc.

If you are interested in helping to support our Project Team celebration, please send your donation to your child’s classroom teacher by Friday, October 24th.

Thank you for your consideration and help!
