Memories and Milestones
a newsletter for alumni and friends of St. Matthew School
Summer 2026
Dear Friends of SMS,
It has been another outstanding year at St. Matthew School, where minds and hearts matter. Not only do we continue to receive record interest from prospective families, our current students are excelling in their academics, on the court/field with our expanded athletics partnership with SJS, and as active members of our greater community.
Looking toward summer, there is change on the horizon for our Parish family. Father Dietrich has received a new assignment and will conclude his tenure as Pastor of St. Matthew/St. Gregory the Great Parish at the end of June. We are most grateful for his enthusiastic and unwavering support for our school. With this, we welcome home our new Pastor, Father Joseph Crowley! Father Crowley comes to us most recently from St. Maximilian Kolbe Parish in Thomaston and Terryville. An SMS bulldog once himself, we're excited for his active and faith-filled involvement in our school community.
Please enjoy these beautiful days of summer and be assured of our prayers!

Each fall, we reach out about our annual fund in support of our amazing school. This year, we were hoping to receive $15,000, but your generosity far surpassed our goal once again and we are just over $25,000! May God bless your generosity each year.
Donations are tax-deductible and being accepted toward this annual fund through June 30. Every dollar goes to support our students, school programs, and beautiful community.

Admissions
Please continue to spread the good news about St. Matthew School! Enrollment is consistently on the rise and interest remains very high...we are already receiving more than twice as many inquiries for 2026-2027! This year, we welcomed over 40 new students in our Pre-Kindergarten classrooms and anticipate wait lists in Pre-K3, Pre-K4, and Kindergarten! We are committed to small class sizes and as such, some classes are now accepting applications on a wait list.
Prospective families are invited to begin the admissions process today!
Past and Present!
While Lucas was serving as Mayor for the Day with Mayor Ellen Zoppo-Sassu, he got to meet with another SMS Bulldog, Detective Matthew Godbout, Class of 2006, of the Bristol Police Department! We love our students and alumni!
Thanksgiving is now SMS Alumni Weekend!
First, all are welcome for:
