We Are Off and Running!

As we wrap up our first five days of the 2026–2027 school year, I could not be more proud of the energy, excitement, and enthusiasm our mustangs have brought back to the building! It has been wonderful to see our hallways filled with smiling faces, friends reconnecting, and scholars beginning to build meaningful relationships with their teachers and classmates. The start of a new school year always brings a special kind of energy, and I am grateful to our scholars, families, and staff for helping us begin the year on such a positive note. There truly is no place like OLHMS!

Grab-and-Go Breakfast is available for purchase each morning! Scholars may purchase breakfast at the Walker Door, Bus Door, or in the Café before heading to their morning destination. Starting the day with a nutritious meal helps ensure our scholars are ready to learn, engage, and make the most of their school day.

As we move forward, I want our entire school community to know that we have high expectations for every scholar at OLHMS. We believe our scholars are capable of great things, and we will continue to challenge them to be responsible, respectful, engaged, and committed to their own growth. High expectations, however, go hand in hand with strong support. Our staff is committed to building meaningful relationships, providing the support scholars need, and creating learning environments where every student can thrive.

Thank you, families, for your continued partnership and support as we begin this exciting school year. We are looking forward to a year filled with growth, achievement, and mustang pride. Together, we will continue to show everyone why there is no place like OLHMS!

With appreciation,
Madalyn Laureto
Principal

Teacher Assignments, Schedules and Transportation

Adjustments to teacher assignments, schedules, and bus routes may be made as we finalize enrollment, class sizes, and programming needs.

Student Portal

Our Mustangs utilize the Student Portal to access Google Classroom, Google Drive, Gmail, Skyward, and other student applications. Daily announcements and important information for students are also posted through the Student Portal.

Advanced Math Criteria Advanced Math Criteria

As we continue to support and challenge our scholars, we want to provide families with a clear understanding of the criteria used for placement in Advanced Math. Advanced Math placement is based on multiple measures of student performance and achievement to ensure that scholars are prepared for the rigor of the course. Please review the criteria below for additional information about how eligibility is determined for the 2026–2027 school year.

Arrival & Dismissal Reminder Arrival & Dismissal Reminder

To help keep arrival and dismissal safe and efficient, please review the following reminders:

Main Parking Lot Closure
For the safety of our scholars and staff, the main parking lot will be closed daily from 8:15–8:45 a.m. and 3:15–3:45 p.m.

Student Safety
We encourage families to designate a specific pick-up and drop-off location for scholars to meet their ride. This helps reduce congestion and keeps dismissal moving efficiently.

Please do not have scholars run across 99th Street or Oak Center Drive to meet their ride without adult supervision. Safety is always our top priority!

Arrival & Dismissal Times

  • Rear doors at Oak Center Drive/Circle Drive will close promptly at 8:30 a.m.
  • Scholars arriving after 8:30 a.m. will be marked tardy.
  • Rear doors will close at 3:30 p.m. following afternoon dismissal.

Family Drop-Off & Pick-Up
All family drop-off and pick-up should take place at the rear of the building on Oak Center Drive/Circle Drive. If grandparents, family members, or others are helping with transportation, please make sure they are aware of this procedure.

Students should not be dropped off or picked up in the main parking lot or along 99th Street while buses are present.

Thank you for your patience, cooperation, and courtesy as we work together to keep arrival and dismissal safe and efficient for all of our Mustangs!
