Attendance Notes & Checking Students Out of School

If you need to check your student out of school for an appointment, or they are being sent home because they are not feeling well or a discipline issue, please come inside the front office and be prepared to show your ID in order for us to call your student to leave. Only adults who are listed on the student's file will be allowed to leave with your student. If you need to make changes to your student's list, please contact Mrs. Puentes at 512-594-2237.

If you need to submit a Dr. note or attendance note, you may email Gloria.Mancias@pfisd.net. She is our Attendance/Student Record Specialist at Westview Middle School. If you receive a paper note, please have your student bring this to the front office.

Absences & Attendance / Absence and Consequences

Types of Absences and Consequences There are 3 types of absences: Excused and exempt. This includes health care professional appointments, court appearances, DFPS appointments and religious holidays, provided the proper documentation is turned in. The absence is excused and exempt from counting against the student for truancy and the number of absences to be exempt from a course final, where applicable.

COLLEGE AND CAREER READINESS

Attention Parents:

The district is pleased to introduce SchooLinks, a college and career readiness platform, for our 8th -12th grade students. Students in grades 8-12 should have completed the SchooLinks Onboarding process at their campus in October. Part of this process asks students to invite one parent/guardian to join to view the student account. Parents can access instructions given to students to invite them to use SchooLinks here. Parents, please use the Parent Guardian SchooLinks Access Instructions to create your account. Discuss the results of your student’s Find Your Path Assessment, completed during the onboarding process. If you notice that your son/daughter has not completed the onboarding process/Find Your Path Assessment, please encourage them to do so. Support your learner in using the platform to discover careers, colleges, and to explore financial readiness for their steps beyond high school. This platform will be utilized for course selection and four year planning this Spring, so it is vital all parents of students in grades 8-11 have an account to review course selection and approve their student’s four-year plan. More information about course selection will be shared in the spring semester. Contact your student’s counselor with questions about using the SchooLinks platform with your learner.
