An Update from Jason
Hello All,
I hope you had a wonderful weekend and all is good. Renee and I had 2/3rds of the team Gingold at home this weekend. Both Lily and Phoebe were home for a short visit. All is good with them; both are counting down the days until their school year ends. Between the rain and sun, I had opportunities to walk Banks and get outside. And, of course, a tour of South Burlington to see my day. All good there.
This week, there are normal TA and Solon Blocks each day. The MHS Conversation Club has organized Sarah Casper's presentation about Consent with all seniors on Monday, blocks 2-4. Other happenings include a special video presentation of Urinetown, a school board meeting, a few athletic games if the rain holds up, and Gio and Laura at our Monday faculty meeting.
Have a great week! I hope you all have a restful, safe, fun, and sunny April break. See you soon:)
Best,
Jason

Reminders (To Do)
- On 4/15/24 MHS The Conversation is presenting "On behalf of the Conversation, I'm excited to announce consent educator Sarah Casper will be coming to our school April 15th to host an interactive consent presentation, "Consent Shakeup". This is designed to be an applicable and more nuanced version of the consent education most of you have already received. The course will be taught in two groups, block two and three (a green day). All seniors will be excused from the class they will be missing and sorted into two groups (stay tuned for your group) .This opportunity has been made possible with generous community member's donations. The MHS class of '68 has been instrumental in our fundraising, donating in the name of their classmate Robin Farnham, whose life was tragically taken in an act of domestic violence soon after her high school graduation. Our club has been fundraising and putting a lot of thought and time into this event and we are really grateful to be able to provide this experience for the class of 2024! Thank you for your participation!"
Caitlin B is starting on 4/29 to help while Ellia is out. Caitlin is a Social Worker and completing their internship at UES.
Departments should start thinking about Course Sections and working with Lissa, Amanda and Aaron to finalize. Please use the CT time to work together to complete. If you all have questions please let me know.

MRPS SEL Domains and Prioritized Standards- In Cased you Missed It
From Jess Murray-
The ability to collaboratively problem-solve is essential to building communities that are equitable and inclusive. As educators, we are committed to supporting our communities and the communities that our students will become a part of in the future. This means that we have a responsibility to ensure that we, and the learners we teach, have the skills needed to build shared understanding and work with one another to problem-solve through pooling our knowledge, skills, resources, and efforts. This skill of collaborative problem-solving is an offshoot of Relationship Skills. But, by intentionally giving students opportunities to practice collaborative problem-solving in our teaching and classes, we support students in building their SEL skills across our SEL prioritized standards, as well as skills needed to achieve many academic proficiencies across academic contents. It provides them with both the ‘hard’ and ‘soft’ skills that are needed to be future leaders, partners, and allies in dismantling systems of oppression. To build a more equitable and inclusive future community, we have many challenges we must collaboratively face, and prioritizing student opportunities to practice collaborative problem-solving in school helps ensure we will collectively have the skills to solve enduring challenges to equity and inclusion.
