A question we get all the time is: Why are we not getting projects done faster?

  1. A project is completed in a bundle, such as large AC projects across the District which take multiple years to complete.
  2. Funds are only available after the budget is approved or when the voters approve a proposition
  3. The summer is too short of a timeframe to complete a project from start-to-finish before the start of the school year.
  4. A project is planned to be a multi-year project, such as the AC project. We try to accomplish as much as possible over a period the summer because the classrooms must be back in place to start the school year.
  5. We have constraints with supplies as there are delays on specific products required for this type of job
  6. There are always delays in any project due to unforeseen circumstances such as weather, staff shortages due to illnesses, etc.

The District’s facilities department has been working diligently on the AC Capital Project across our three buildings. The project is a major project that involves construction in all classrooms, offices and spaces in our schools.

Since the project involves heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC), the work is scheduled to happen over the few years culminating in June 2026. This project will allow all our schools to have central AC that will help with heat waves and allow the school day to run smoothly.

This project was approved by our Community as a way to enhance, upgrade and beatify our District.

We will keep you updated of the project as we progress.

New School Playgrounds! 😀 New School Playgrounds! 😀

The Board has approved the upgrading of our playgrounds in our three elementary school buildings.

We are hoping to complete this work during the cold weather months and are able to welcome our students to newly designed playgrounds and equipment when the weather gets warmer.

You can see the estimated timeline of the project completion and also "renderings" of what the playgrounds will look like. As always, any questions please contact us.

Clear Stream Vestibule Clear Stream Vestibule

We have a 100 Year Old Building at Clear Stream, but continuous upkeep maintains our building looking pristine as it did 100 years ago. We plan and schedule maintenance and repairs routinely, but this year we scheduled a renovation of the vestibule at Clear Stream.

We have completed this project and are looking forward to welcoming everyone to the Clear Stream Avenue School.

Just a Reminder About Some Fire Safety Tips for Home

● Install smoke alarms on every level of your home

● Test smoke alarms every month. If they're not working, change the batteries

● Talk with all family members about a fire escape plan and practice the plan twice a year

● Unplug electrical items not often in use

● Avoid electric heaters if you can. If you need them, use them only when necessary

● Make sure when leaving the house that all electric heaters are off and unplugged

● Inspect electrical cables to make sure no wires are exposed

● Use surge protectors

Use of Facilities

You may now fill out the application and permit forms online and then save them to your computer. They are found on the Valley Stream 30 website under “Capital” and “Buildings & Grounds Department.” You can then email them along with rosters, and insurance forms to the respective schools to the contact person (If requesting more than 1 school, then you must fill out your forms for each school.)

The principals at the schools will then sign-off on the applications' permits and forward them to Central Office. The forms will be processed and sent to the Board of Education for final approval at the next possible meeting. Please make sure your application is in on time so that approval will happen before you begin to use the facilities, otherwise you will be delayed until the following meeting. Facilities usage that has been approved will be logged into the District calendar for all three schools to view.

For confirmation on permit approval please contact Mrs. Suzanne Brady at sbrady@vs30.org and/or (516) 434-3613.
