Gardens' Greetings
May/June 2025
In the homestretch.....
It is that time of year when we begin to think about placement of students for next year. I would like to thank any of you who have already emailed me regarding placement. If you would like to share any insight for placement for your child, the deadline is June 1st. Please understand that you can not request specific teachers. In the last week of summer you will receive your child's placement on Powerschool.
It has been a very successful school year! Our students have really worked hard and it is evidenced in all of their accomplishments. Every month we celebrate Who is Doing Their Best at BGS and the students received recognition for character, writing, healthy habits, technology, teamwork, and of course the Principal's award, The PAW Pride!
We have some exciting events to look forward to. Kindergarten Orientation is June 5th from 9:30-10:30. Field day for our students is on June 11th with a rain date of the 12th! The Kindergarten and Preschool graduation will take place on June 16th . We will have a Block Party on May 30th and Fourth grade fun day is June 13th.This is a wonderful way to send off our fourth graders!
Have an amazing summer and we look forward to seeing you in September.
SAVE THE DATE-JUNE 19, 2025 12:30 PM
We will once again host our fourth grade clap-off (shhh, it is a secret). The fourth grade students will travel through our hallways first to be cheered on by our students in the school. Then, they will continue on the front walkway, where you will be. They will proceed around from the Main Entrance doors to the Fourth Grade Hallway door. The surprise clap-off will take place at 12:30 pm on June 19th.*
Guidelines:
- Park by the tennis courts
- Make signs if you choose
- Fatheads are always FUN
- Please take photos
- Please exit the school grounds immediately after the parade
*If it rains, there is no inside option for visitors. We will hold a school based clap-off only. An alert will go out to cancel the parade if necessary.
We look forward to giving our fourth graders the proper send off that they deserve.

PLAYGROUND FUN MEANS PLAYGROUND SAFE!
Summer is fast approaching which means more outdoor activities. What is more fun than a visit
to the playground? Time spent at the playground allows children to exercise their bodies and the
brains. It also helps them develop social skills. It is important for children to have adult
supervision when they are visiting a playground. This will help prevent injuries; by making sure
they are using the equipment properly, and not engaging in unsafe behavior.
Here are a few recommendations for parents and caregivers to keep in mind when visiting the
playground with their child:
- Actively supervise your children on the playground.
- Choose playgrounds with shock absorbing surfaces such as sand, wood chips. These will help prevent injuries.
- Children should be dressed appropriately. Sneakers are better than sandals. Clothing should not have drawstrings or ties. Jewelry should not be worn.
- Size up the playground equipment. Make sure that it is age appropriate for your child and in good condition. Do not allow your child to play on equipment that is in disrepair.
- Check the temperature of the equipment in the summer. Swings and slides can become hot causing burns to your child. Metal handle bars can also absorb heat causing injury.
- Teach your children safe playground behavior. Your child should know that shoving, pushing or crowding is forbidden.
Even on safe and age appropriate playgrounds, adult supervision and guidance is essential.
Research has shown that lack of supervision is directly related to 50% of playground related
injuries. So as your child climbs, slides and swings, keep an eye on the action, and be ready to
intervene if they using the equipment inappropriately, or behaving in an unsafe manner.
I hope this information has been helpful to you. As a school nurse, I am always looking for ways
to keep your children healthy and safe. Have fun and be safe!
Bradley Gardens Health Office-A NURSE IN THE KNOW!
Counselor's Corner
We are overwhelmed with your sneaker donations! So far, we have packed 10 huge bags and sent them off to GotSneakers? The sneaker drive ends on May 9. Thank you for your donations. In June we should know how much money we raised for our PTO.
May is mental health awareness month. Since 1949, Mental Health Awareness Month has provided support to educate and destigmatize the challenges faced by millions of Americans dealing with mental health issues (NAMI, 2024). Throughout the month, staff and students are invited to participate in optional activities that foster wellness.
In June, the 4th grade cabinet will host an in school lemonade sale! The hope is to hydrate and help cool students off with this refreshing beverage. Proceeds will go directly to students in need. Stay tuned for more information.
