Week of February 10, 2025

Rolling into the last week of the six weeks! I can not believe we only have 2 six weeks to go in this school year! Our reward Party is this Thursday. Track has begun this past week, make sure you bring warm clothes for track practice - its gonna be cold! Soccer tryout have been announced to be April 1-April 4 from 4-6pm. Further details will come out the closer we get to tryouts! Over the next 3 weeks your students will be meeting with counselors to begin scheduling for next school year. Be on the lookout for schedules to be signed.

Parents, please note: On Thursday, February 13th, between 1:30 and 3:00, your student may be attending the reward party. If you need to pick up your student during this time, there may be an extended wait. To help reduce wait times, we recommend picking up your student before 1:00.

FINAL OPPORTUNITY:

If you missed ordering a yearbook, you can still purchase one for $50 through the Jostens website through February 27th.

You can also bring a cash or check to Ms. Pena to reserve your copy of the copy.

PTO Meeting is this Wednesday at 4:00pm in the front office conference room.

We have had several glass drinking bottles break this week in hallways and classrooms. It is a safety hazard. If you are going to bring a drink to school, it must be metal or plastic.

If you need to pick up your student during this time, there may be an extended wait. To help reduce wait times, we recommend picking up your student before 1:00.

Valentine's Day is quickly approaching, and while we love that our parents want to shower their students with love during Valentine's week, a friendly reminder that any valentines deliveries to MMS will be held in the front office until the end of the day to keep distractions to a minimum in the hallways and classrooms.

Students should not touch or modify another student's chrome book. This includes resetting and power washing. Causing an issue with another student's chrome book wastes time for that student and can possibly prevent the student from working on his/her chrome book and also goes against our Acceptable Use Policy.

Secondary Grading Guidelines

Late Work (Secondary) Regarding late work for all courses, the teacher will utilize the following to determine the final grade of the student’s assignment.

On Level Courses- Secondary students will be subject to the following penalties:

1 day late – 10 point grade reduction

2 days late – 20 point grade reduction

3 days late – 30 point grade reduction

4 or more days late – 0

HonorsAdvanced Courses - Secondary students will be subject to the following penalties:

1-3 days late - maximum grade of a 70

4 or more days late - 0

The teacher reserves the right and may extend the late deadline policy for an individual student or class should he/she feel extenuating circumstances exist.

Reward Party

4th six weeks

5th week of the 4th six weeks is February 7

Reward Party - Feb 13

Reward Party information:

The requirements are:

1.No Zeros in any class - this means all work had to be turned in by the 5th Friday of the six weeks.

2. No discipline of ISS or DAEP would be allowed to go - this means if your child got a detention they could still earn the reward party

3. No more than 2 unexcused absences - Parents/Guardians need to inform school every time a child is absent. Communication is key. If your child has been absent due to illness, please let our office ladies know.

4. Students could still fail and go to the party - This allows all students who are on different levels of learning and still progressing to attend. This also allows administration to find students who are struggling and help support students through our MTSS process.

ALL LATE WORK WILL BE DUE BY THE 5th FRIDAY OF THE SIX WEEKS. With our district policy to allow 4 days to turn in late work and allow time for reteaching & retesting, students would not have the time to allow for these policies, if new assignments were assigned during the final week of a six weeks. This also helps with UIL eligibility timelines. Any new assignments that are assigned in the final week of the six weeks will be placed on the following six weeks grade book.
