"TRUE HAPPINESS IS NOT ATTAINED THROUGH SELF-GRATIFICATION, BUT THROUGH FIDELITY TO A WORTHY PURPOSE."
- Helen Keller
Good Afternoon, CUSD,
We would like to make you aware of a new opportunity for the district. As a result of a new California state initiative around mental health, CUSD will now be able to bill for mental health services already being facilitated on our campuses. The California Youth Behavioral Health Initiative (CYBHI) requires California’s health plans and insurers to reimburse public schools for covered mental health services provided to students. To read more about CYBHI please visit our website. To opt your child out of the CYBHI program you may fill out this Google Form. Please note, there is no change to services provided by CUSD as a result of CYBHI, students will still receive no-cost mental health services from counselors on our campuses, the only change is the district’s ability to bill insurers for reimbursement.

Ed Tech Parent Series
SDCOE is excited to announce the upcoming Educational Technology Parent Series, a free virtual learning opportunity open to all parents and educators across our region. This series is designed to support families and school communities in navigating educational technology and resources that empower student success.
As our educators, parents, and community come together to connect, challenge, and champion our students, we are humbled by the outpouring of compliments. What a positive testament to our CUSD family!
- Allison Gilmore goes above and beyond to create a love of learning and reading in her English class. She did a book tasting for the students to sample and chose books to study for their first week with accompanying snacks. What a fun and creative teacher! I'm so grateful for educators like Mrs.Gilmore at CHS!
-
Ari Luna makes learning interesting, practical, and FUN. Bringing lived experience as a collegiate athlete and athletic trainer, students have the privilege of extensive career and athletic knowledge in their own classroom. What a gift! Thank you!
Ana Maynez is an amazing person who is so helpful to her student. But she went above and beyond to help the Gen. Ed teacher's sub when the teacher was out. How thankful I am that he helped the day run smoothly in my absence. She also gives hugs when she knows I am overwhelmed and needs some kindness.
Jenny Moore: Thank you for taking safety concerns and parent feedback so seriously. It's clear that thoughtful action and genuine care have gone into the steps you've taken — we can see visible improvements and feel reassured by your leadership. I appreciate your responsiveness and commitment to keeping our students and families safe.
Click here to recognize an employee or volunteer who goes above and beyond to make a difference. Those who are "caught" will receive a copy of the positive words that were shared about them and a "Caught Being Awesome" decal. Please take a minute or two to brighten someone else's day!
