• We are in need of substitute teachers for this school year. Substitutes play a very important role to ensure a great learning environment while the classroom teacher is out. • Rilke operates on a tight budget as a charter school. This leaves little, if anything, for school supplies or activities which is why the activity and supply fees are so important to provide the school with the materials needed to foster an enriching learning environment. With that in mind, the activity and supply fees are set and Rilke is able to receive fees. Log into your parent Q connect portal to make an on-line payment: https://parentconnect.asdk12.org/
• Activity Fee: $125 - The activity fees pay for field trips, guest speakers, buses, and other special class activities.
• Supply Fee: $100 - The supply fees pay for classroom supplies like colored paper, paper, glue, pencils, scissors, folders, containers, and other materials for instruction. It also covers teacher supplies like paper, post-its, expo markers, paper towels, tissues, pens, and other supplies needed for instruction. Lastly, the supply fees are used for school wide supplies for art, P.E., music, and copy paper.
• School Supplies - Students are still responsible for backpacks, binders (5th - 8th grade), lunch packs, and other personal items that go back and forth between home and school. Thank you for your support, we could not provide an engaging learning environment without your help.

• Rilke Schule Cross Country - Rilke Schule will once again be putting together a middle school cross country team. This opportunity is open to all 6, 7, and 8 grade students. Practices will be held Monday through Thursday after school from 3:15 to 4:15ish with our first practice being Monday August 24th. We are excited to share an opportunity for our Rilke Schule students to build community and participate in positive activities with students from Wendler Middle School.

As part of our outdoor activities, Rilke Schule students may occasionally interact with Wendler students while classes are using the outdoor areas surrounding the schools. These shared activities may include structured games, recreation, and opportunities to build friendships and positive relationships with students from another school.

Rilke Schule Outdoor Grounds

Rilke Schule students may use and participate in activities on the Wendler school grounds, including:

• Outdoor basketball courts
• Baseball/kickball field
• Tennis and badminton courts
• Track
• Inner track field and other designated outdoor areas

During these activities, Rilke Schule students may also be using or participating in activities in these shared spaces.

Winter Activities at Rilke Schule

During the winter months, Wendler students may also have opportunities to participate in winter activities on the Rilke Schule grounds, including enjoying the ice rink and other designated winter recreational activities.

Our goal is to provide students with opportunities to be active, have fun, learn from one another, and develop a stronger sense of community. We believe that positive interactions between students from our neighboring schools can help build respect, friendship, cooperation, and a greater connection within our school community.

All activities will be planned and supervised by school staff, and students will be expected to follow the rules and expectations of both schools.

We want to make families aware of this opportunity and the possibility that Rilke Schule and Wendler students may interact during these activities. If you would not like your child to participate in in these shared activities please contact your respective teacher.
