Falcon Update

Dear HMS Families,

This past week was the Best of Berwyn recognition. Heritage was represented by Breigh C., Robert E., Ka'Mya H., Aliyah L., Mia P., Leilany G., Natalia V. and Nevaeh V.. We are excited to share that Nevaeh won 2nd place!

This upcoming week are excited to welcome incoming 6th grade families for an informational meeting on Monday, May 18th at 4:30 or 6:00 PM and then again on Tuesday, May 19th at 9:30 AM.

As we approach the one year mark of launching our new district website, we would appreciate your feedback. Family input played an important role in the original selection and design of the website, and we would love to hear how it is working for you. Please take a few moments to complete this brief survey to share your thoughts as we continue working to improve communication and ensure our website best meets the needs of our families and community.

8th grade families we will be blasting out additional promotion information on Monday, May 18th so please be on the lookout for that information. As a reminder 8th grade promotion is on Thursday, May 28th at 5:00 PM at Morton West.

Registration for the 2026–2027 school year is now open and we need families to start the process. We would like to have 150 families registered by the end of this week. We encourage families to begin the process as soon as possible. Please review the flyer below for required registration documents and visit our registration website to begin the process.

Additional Important Future Dates

5/18: Incoming 6th Grade Parent Meeting at 4:30 PM and 6:00 PM

5/20: 8th Grade Boat Cruise Trip

5/22: No iPads will be going home after this date

5/25: No School

5/26: Erin's Law Presentation: Here is the opt out form if you do not want your student to participate

5/28: 8th Grade Promotion at Morton West starts at 5:00 PM

6/2: Last Day of School for 6th and 7th graders

Since 2013 Erin's Law has been in place which requires all schools to provide annual child sexual prevention education for all students, early childhood through 12th grade. The law also allows parents to choose to not have their child participate in the presentation. If you do not want your child to participate, please complete this form. Please complete the form by Sunday, May 24th.

District 100 strives to ensure that all students and families feel safe, supported, and valued in our school communities. Fostering an inclusive and welcoming school environment is deeply ingrained in the culture of our district and is fundamental to the success of our students. Resources to support families with immigration-related concerns are available on the family resources page on our website.

HMS 25/26 yearbooks are officially available! If you are interested in purchasing one, use this link. Please make sure to save your receipt and share with your student that you have purchased a yearbook for them. They will be delivered to the school in May to be distributed to your student before leaving for the year. We utilize an app called PBIS Rewards where students earn points throughout the school year for being Responsible, Respectful and Safe. We have a PBIS store that we open for students to purchase fun items with their points. We also do raffles, field trips and a winter extravaganza that students can utilize their points throughout the year. We encourage students to use their points by the end of the year as they do not roll over!

This week, students will download STOPit to their iPads. This is an online application that Heritage students have access to. This application allows students to anonymously report incidents of bullying, misconduct or general concerns. All reports go to the support service team and administration, which allows us to act quickly and in real time to any concerns or incidents.

Students at Heritage receive free breakfast and lunch each day if they choose to participate, or they may bring their own lunch from home. As a healthy school, we ask that students do not bring pop, energy drinks, or large bags of snacks.

Breakfast will be served each morning before students head to their Period 1 class. Lunch will take place at the scheduled time according to the bell schedule, and students will also have the option to participate in recess during their lunchtime.
