CELEBRATE TEXAS PUBLIC SCHOOLS WEEK!
It is more important now than ever to Celebrate Texas Public Schools! This week, March 2 - March 6 LEISD Celebrates Texas Public Schools Week (TPSW). This is a week dedicated to supporting our schools and showcasing the many achievements of Texas public school students, teachers and staff members.
Texas Public Schools Week was established in 1950 by the Masonic Lodges of Texas to recognize contributions made by the state's free system of education. Each year, the event has grown and it continues to be a meaningful way to showcase the many educational opportunities given to more than 5 million students attending Texas public schools.
American Heart Challenge Kickoff
This week, LMS is kicking off the American Heart Challenge! American Heart Challenge encourages middle and high school students to take heart-healthy challenges and engages them in service-learning activities. As part of this program, the American Heart Association will be giving an interactive presentation at our school on 3/2/2020. During this presentation, students will learn about the dangers of vaping, how to make heart healthy choices, and about the mission of the American Heart Association. Students will be allowed to use their phones to take a heart healthy challenge and share the message of the American Heart Association with others.
We encourage parents to support students as they take heart healthy challenges and raise funds to support the mission of the American Heart Association! Our school has set a goal to raise $3,500 donations to fund research, education, and advocacy to create healthier communities. CLICK HERE (http://igfn.us/f/2l73/n) to donate!

A Reminder from the Nurse:
The Standard of Care for Little Elm ISD is aligned with those of the National Association of School Nurses. It is our goal to keep children in class. We will endeavor to send home only those children who are truly ill, or who present a direct threat to the wellness of their classmates. If your child becomes ill, please follow these reminder:
If you child has a contagious illness, please see your family doctor and adhere to medical advice.
If your child has a fever at home or at school they need to be 24 hours fever free without fever-reducing medication to return to school.
Please turn-in all parent and doctor notes to the front office.
For the safety and protection of all students, medication cannot be possessed or transported by students, except for students authorized to carry medication for life-threatening situations.
All medication including cough drops must be checked into the Nurse by the parent or guardian and shall be secured in the clinic at all times.
The Cook Children's Telemedicine Program is Available at All LEISD Campuses
Through high definition telemedicine video and communications equipment, the school nurse can connect with a Cook Children's pediatric provider for quick assessment and treatment to care for your child while at school. Learn more about the Telemedicine Program at www.littleelmisd.net.
EVERY SCHOOL DAY COUNTS!!!
Showing up to school everyday has a huge impact on student's academic success. Excused or unexcused impacts student's course grades, course credit, academic performance on state testing, and is a powerful predictor of student drop out. In addition, students who fall below the 90 percent law are at danger of losing course credit or receiving a final grade. Please help us to improve student attendance and ensure every student is present everyday.

Upcoming Benchmark Schedule
LMS FamiLE, we have officially entered the Spring testing season. In order to prepare for STAAR testing in April and May, we have scheduled upcoming Benchmark dates. This will allow students to practice in a STAAR testing environment with questions aligned to state standards.
The value of Benchmarks is to gauge student learning, identify which state standards to target, and develop enrichment opportunities for students as we continue to prepare for STAAR.
