A Note from Principal Carlotta Simonds-Perantoni
Our staff and scholars work so hard daily, continually growing as both learners and community members. WILDCAT PRIDE can be seen throughout the school. Speaking of "Wildcats", did you know that Wednesday is "Wildcat Wednesday"; be sure to wear your WRVS Wildcats gear on Wednesdays! Need to update your Wildcats gear or add to it? Keep an eye out for an order form next week!
Thursday morning, we held our planned emergency evacuation drill. Coincidentally, Wednesday, we had an unplanned alarm drill, which was not an emergency, but an issue with an alarm pull box. Our staff starts out each year discussing our safety drills with scholars, and practicing. The scholars in both cases, did an AMAZING job! Please visit our website for information regarding our emergency evacuation drills.
Thursday, October 8th is our annual Grandparents' Day Luncheon! We currently have reservations for 115 guests! If you haven't signed your scholar's grandparent up, please sign-up by Wednesday, September 30th. We will host our traditional 8th Grade vs Staff soccer game that same afternoon, Thursday, October 8th, at 1:30 PM.
Next Wednesday, September 30th we will have an EARLY RELASE at 11:30 AM, so that staff can take part in Professional Development. A reminder that there is NO After School Program on early release days.
Fall is here; have a wonderful weekend!
WRVS Composting
This year, kindergarten, 4th grade, and 5th grade scholars are helping out with our school composting. The scholars are excited and eager to learn and help with the process.
News from the Health Office with Nurse Carla
Dates to Remember:
Little Rivers Mobile Health Clinic- 9/30, 10/14 ,10/28
Here are a few things I’d like you to keep in mind and help out with:
● Water Bottles: Please help students to remember their reusable water bottles. Many of the complaints that I see, can be helped with a good drink of water. A water bottle can help keep kids in class!
● Extra clothes: Please help students of all ages remember a second set of seasonally appropriate clothes. We work and play hard at WRVS, and you’d be amazed how often a quick change can help! The office can sometimes take gently used hand me down clothing items if you are ever looking to donate to our cause, please reach out first.
● Forms: If you have not returned health update forms, please try to get them filled out and returned asap. These forms really help me to collect required report data and most importantly meet and care for your student in the best way possible. If your children are participating in soccer, please make sure their up to date physical exam is on file. These are required before players can compete in games.
● Medication: Please contact me if you have not and your child needs to take medication at school. Please do not send medication to school with your child. If getting them here is a problem, please call me to discuss a plan.
● Sick Day Guidance:
- Student should be 24 hours without a fever and not taking fever reducing medicine.
- Student should be 24 hours without vomiting or diarrhea.
- Student’s symptoms should be improving and the student should be well enough to fully participate in their day.
Don’t hesitate to reach out to me at school during the school day at 802-439-5534 or via
email at carla.horniak@oesu.org.
