Memorial Update

October 11, 2022
Good Morning Memorial Families,
I hope that the long weekend was filled with all of the wonderful fall fun that makes New England so special. The leaves are just beautiful and the weather for much of the weekend was perfect for fall activities.
We have a lot happening this week! I hope that you will be able to join us on Friday evening for our annual Spooktacular Trunk or Treat event. We will have lots of treats, costumes, and community fun together as children go trunk to trunk around the back parking lot of the school. Dress in your best costume and plan to join us for a fun time hosted by our outstanding PTO.
This week we will have school pictures taking place on Thursday and Friday. Your child’s teacher will have more specific information about which day your child will have his/her picture taken. Looking forward to seeing all of those awesome smiles later this week.
On Friday we will have our monthly all school meeting. This month, our theme is self-awareness, focusing on what makes each of us unique and how working together we can do amazing things. We will read the book When Pencil Met Eraser by Karen Kilpatrick to learn more about cooperation and working towards a group plan. We will also celebrate October birthdays and Positive Office Referrals and enjoy our time together as a school community.
Now that we are six weeks into the school year, I’d like to review procedures for parent drop off and pick up as we are finding more and more families utilizing this option for getting to and from school. Please follow these procedures to ensure the safety of our children and to ensure our lines are as efficient as possible.
When dropping off in the morning, please do not allow your child to exit the car until the adults on duty arrive outside and give the okay. Children have been getting out and waiting on the sidewalk before we I’m have gotten outside.
In both the morning and afternoon, we are asking that parents please remain in your car. Your child can exit and enter the car without you getting out, and we can help if needed.
Please continue to practice having your child buckle and unbuckle themselves.
Do not pass vehicles in the line. Remain in line until the person in front of you leaves.
Thank you for your attention to this, and please share this with anyone who picks up your child who may not receive this newsletter.
I hope everyone has a wonderful week!
Warmly,
Wendy
Toys from Home
Unless a classroom has asked for toys and items to be brought in from home, we are asking for parent help in having children not bring them to school, or to before and after school care. Children have been bringing in items that are special to them and some have gone missing. In some cases, we have seen children bring in Pokemon cards and making trades that they wish they had not made, or the cards have been lost or damaged in the classroom. Toys, cards, and electronics can also be a distraction to learning. We appreciate your help with this!
