Principal's Message
Dear Neubert Families,
This Thursday, our students will take part in a 9/11 observance activity to honor and remember the events of September 11th. As a show of solidarity and support, we encourage all students to wear red, white, and blue on Thursday, September 11th. Read below for more details.
Thank you for helping us create a meaningful day of reflection and unity for our school community.
Wishing everyone a great week ahead!
Your Partner in Education,
Ms. Nicole Bryan, Principal
Neubert Elementary School
Faces of Neubert
In this section, we will be highlighting a Neubert staff member! Continue reading to learn more about one of our Occupational Therapists, Nadine Noreen!
"This is my 4th year in D300 and 2nd year at Neubert. I was a D300 graduate! After high school I went to Illinois State University and then continued onto Colorado State University for my Masters degree in Occupational Therapy. My husband and I live in the area and we got married a little over a year ago. We have 1 cat named Garbie and a leopard gecko named June. I love to read and do crafts on my Cricut. My husband and I enjoy being outside and spending time with our families! I am always happy to drink a Dunkin' caramel iced coffee and eat some dark chocolate. I love working with all the students at Neubert and I know this will be a great year!"
Neubert Staff Shoutouts!
At Neubert, we are so lucky to have such a dedicated and caring staff! We invite you to take a moment to recognize a staff member who has made a difference for your child(ren) or family. Your personal messages will be sent directly to the receiving staff member. Your kind words mean so much and help us celebrate the amazing work happening every day!
Neubert Spirit Wear Days
Neubert Spirit Wear Days are back! Mark your calendars!
As part of our observance, students and staff will be creating origami paper cranes. In Japanese culture, paper cranes are a symbol of healing and peace. After the attacks in New York City, people left cranes at the fence near Ground Zero. Many of those, along with thousands more sent by Japanese students, are now part of the 9/11 Memorial and Museum. In a powerful act of solidarity, following the devastating tsunami in Japan in 2011, the 9/11 Family Association gifted Japan an origami crane crafted from steel recovered from the World Trade Center—an enduring symbol of hope in the face of tragedy.
Students are encouraged to wear red, white, and blue on 9/11 and class photos will be taken with their cranes!
Standard Response Protocol
As Superintendent Dr. Martina Smith shared in her summer communications, starting this year, our schools will be strengthening emergency response procedures by implementing the Standard Response Protocol and the Standard Reunification Method, both developed by the “I Love U Guys” Foundation.
The Standard Response Protocol outlines five clear actions: Hold, Secure, Lockdown, Evacuate, and Shelter. These actions are designed to help keep students and staff safe in a variety of situations, including medical events, severe weather, police activity near the school, and more.
In addition, District 300 is adopting the Standard Reunification Method to provide a safe and organized process for reuniting students with their families should an emergency occur.
To learn more about these safety enhancements, please review the Standard Response Protocol for the District 300 Community (PDF).

Our Lost and Found is growing faster than a beanstalk! Each day, more and more items are being added to the collection, and we’d love for them to find their way back home. Please take a moment to check our Lost and Found—you never know what familiar belongings might be waiting for a happy reunion!
Music Concerts
Mark your calendars! 🎵 Our grade-level musical concert series will continue this school year, and we would love for you to join us. Come to one, come to some, come to all — every performance is a special celebration of our students’ hard work and talent! Thank you to our wonderful music teacher, Mrs. Ruzinok, for making the magic happen!
Positive Behavioral Interventions & Supports (PBIS)
At Neubert, we use a school-wide approach called MTSS (Multi-Tiered System of Supports) for Behavior, also known as PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports), to help all students be successful socially, emotionally, and behaviorally.
Our Core Expectations:
Respect Yourself • Respect Others • Respect All Things • Respect Learning
Three Levels of Support:
-
Tier 1: School-wide expectations, lessons, and recognition for all students (e.g., Royal Gems, You’ve Been Crowned class rewards).
-
Tier 2: Targeted small-group supports for students who need a little extra help, such as check-in/check-out, mentoring, or restorative practices.
-
Tier 3: Individualized plans for students with ongoing challenges, with support from specialists.
How We Recognize Positive Behavior:
-
Royal Gems: Earned by individual students for showing our core expectations; can be used for raffles, monthly rewards, and at the Royal Store.
-
Crowned Royal: Whole-class rewards for meeting behavior goals; top classes in each grade are celebrated quarterly.
Special Events & Rewards:
-
Royal Store: December 17 & on Field Day, plus monthly raffles/experiences.
-
Royal Assemblies: November 5, February 4, and May 15 – celebrating students who model outstanding behavior. More information to come.
We teach and re-teach expectations throughout the year, using fun “Cool Tool” lessons, and we track data to ensure students get the right support at the right time.
By working together—staff, families, and students—we create a positive, respectful, and safe environment where every Knight can shine! ✨
