Dear Families,

Somehow we blinked and it’s November! We couldn’t have asked for a better start to the month than the hugely successful Boosterthon Fun Run. We want to thank all of the donors, volunteers, teachers, and especially the coordinator, Caitlin McInnes, for making this such a successful event. It takes an enormous amount of work, but is such a memorable day for our students. The funds raised (almost $24,000!) will benefit our school greatly! Please find helpful information below:

  • The November lunch menu can be found here: November lunch

  • Congratulations to the Weymouth SEPAC! The Fore River Bridge will be lit up yellow in honor of SEPAC Awareness Month (pictured here) . A well-deserved honor!

  • For families who signed their student up for the Healthy Smiles dental visits, the first visit will take place on Wednesday, November 9th.

  • Friday, November 11th is Veterans Day. There is no-school on Friday as we observe this important holiday. Weymouth’s wonderful Veterans Day Parade will start in Jackson Square at 10:15. Many of our Wessagusset Cub Scouts and Girl Scouts can be seen marching! More information about Veterans Day events in Weymouth can be found here: Weymouth Veterans Day Events We will be learning about the history and traditions of Veterans Day in our classrooms as our way of honoring all those who have served our country. We honor and appreciate the veterans in our Wessagusset School community and thank them for all they do to protect our freedom and keep us safe!

  • Our fantastic math coaches have put together some great ideas for supporting students’ math skills at home. Check out the strategies here! Math at Home

  • In-person conferences will take place on Tuesday evening (11/15), and virtual conferences will take place on Wednesday afternoon (11/16). Please reach out to your child’s teacher if you need to make an appointment.

  • We know that making ends meet can be difficult sometimes. We would like to remind families that Wess is always here to help. Please reach out to Mrs. Machado, our adjustment counselor, if you are in need of any support during the holidays this year . All conversations will be kept completely confidential. Mrs. Machado can be reached at sarah.machadodeady@weymouthschools.org or 781-335-2210 ext. 38308.

  • The WHS Craft Fair is coming soon! Info can be found here: WHS Craft Fair Info

  • Save the Date! The Winter Concert for students in Grades 3-5 will be held on Wednesday, December 7th at 10:00 am. K-2 students will be featured in a Spring Concert!

  • For safety reasons, students arriving before 8:50 am need to be accompanied by an adult, as we do not have staff outside to supervise students until 8:50. Please remember that all students need to be picked-up promptly at 3:15 pm. We appreciate your help with this.

Important upcoming dates:

  • Tuesday, November 8th: No school, Election Day/Professional Development

  • Friday, November 11th: No school, Veterans Day

We are looking forward to a great week!

Sincerely,

Lindsey Frat

Parent Council Corner

Reminder that Monday 11/7 is Bingo Night, 6:30pm in the cafeteria. We play until the prizes are gone. Bake sale donations can be dropped off at this event

Parent Council will have an optional donation bucket to help with fundraising at all our future events, including the Bingo event on Monday. Feel free to bring your spare change to drop in the bucket.

It’s never too early to start thinking about the Holiday Shop. This is a Wessagusset tradition where students can shop for their family and friends. This special event relies heavily on donations from our Wessagusset community. So if you’re out and about and see good deals on small items that would be appropriate for our holiday shop event, please consider purchasing them to donate. If you're crafty, it's never too early to start making crafts to donate for the sale.
