Community Update from Principal Griffin Community Update from Principal Griffin

Dear Erie High School Students and Families,

I hope that you and your family have enjoyed a restful and enjoyable summer! As we prepare to welcome our students back for another exciting year at Erie High School, I want to extend a warm greeting to all our returning students and families, and a special welcome to our new Tigers joining us this fall. As I enter my 4th year as Erie High School principal, I am so excited for all of the great opportunities and experiences that lay ahead for our students.

Our school year will begin with Freshman Orientation on Wednesday, August 13th, followed by the first day of classes for all students on Thursday, August 14th. The start of a new school year is always a special time - I am eager to see our students fill the hallways with energy and enthusiasm once again.

I am looking forward to the year ahead and I am confident that it will be another outstanding chapter in the ongoing story of excellence at Erie High School. Whether your child’s passions lie within academics, athletics, the performing arts, community service, or co-curricular clubs and activities, Erie offers a wide range of opportunities for students to learn, grow, and thrive. We take great pride in supporting the whole child and helping each individual shine both in and out of the classroom.

As we begin the semester, I encourage all students to have a thoughtful plan in place to support a strong and positive start to the year. It is important for all students to prioritize attendance, engagement, organization, and goal-setting as the new year begins, and to ensure a strong commitment to seeking additional guidance and support from our outstanding faculty & staff. It is far easier to sustain a strong start to a school year than it is to turn things around in the middle of a semester!

Throughout this newsletter, you will find additional important information about the start of this school year, including details that will help students and families feel prepared for a smooth and successful return. I strongly encourage everyone to read through every section of today’s newsletter thoroughly. Additionally, please make it a habit to read our weekly family newsletter, which is our primary source of communication throughout the school year. It’s the best way to stay informed about upcoming events, academic updates, student celebrations, and all the exciting things happening in our school community.

I look forward to welcoming back our Erie Tigers next week! We have a wonderful, strong, and supportive school and community, and I am certain that this is going to be an outstanding school year. In the meantime, please enjoy the remainder of your summer break, and reach out with any questions or concerns that you may have.

Sincerely,

Josh Griffin
Principal, Erie High School

Important iPad Updates for the 2025–2026 School Year

St. Vrain’s District Technology Services has made several updates to student iPads for the upcoming school year to support a focused and secure digital learning environment both at school and at home. One key update is the implementation of a new internet filter, Securly, which adds an extra layer of protection to iPads by blocking certain types of websites.
