October

We’ll continue using integers in expressions and equations, solving for unknown variables.

How to help at home videos:

  • Adding & Subtracting Integers
  • Multiplying & Dividing Integers
  • Solving Basic Equations

September

In September, we focused on understanding Integers. Integers are whole numbers & their opposites (positive and negative numbers).

November

Pre-Algebra: This month in Pre-Algebra, students are exploring slope, learning how to calculate the steepness of a line as the vertical change over the horizontal change (y over x). Watch the videos at home to help your child strengthen their understanding and practice applying this important concept.

  • Video: Introduction to Slope
  • Video: Intro to Slope of a Line in Y=MX+B Form
  • Video- Finding Slope from a Graph
  • Video: Quadrants of the Coordinate Plane
  • Video: Simplifying Fractions

Algebra 1: This month, students are learning about Relations and Functions- understanding how inputs and outputs are connected and how to determine if a relation represents a function. They’ll also explore different ways to represent functions using tables, graphs, and equations.

  • Video: What are Functions?
  • Video: Relations & Functions

Geometry: Geometry students are beginning Chapter 3: Parallel and Perpendicular Lines! They’ll explore how to identify parallel, perpendicular, and skew lines; revisit angle relationships formed when parallel lines are cut by a transversal; prove when lines are parallel; and learn to write equations for both parallel and perpendicular lines.

  • Video- Skew Lines, Perpendicular, and Parallel lines & Planes, Intersecting lines & Transversals

Algebra 2: In Algebra 2, students are diving into quadratic equations and polynomial functions. They’re learning how to analyze graphs, identify key features, and apply different methods to solve and simplify expressions. Watch the videos at home to help your child strengthen their understanding and see how these concepts connect to real-world problem solving.

  • Video: Intro to Quadratic Equations
  • Video- Solving Quadratic Equations
  • Video- What are Polynomials?
  • Video- Characteristics of Polynomial Functions

October

Pre-Algebra: We are focusing on Transformations (Geometry). How to help at home video: Transformational Geometry (Translations, Rotations, Reflections)

Geometry: We’ll be exploring the Basics of Geometry – Points, Lines, Planes, Angles, and then beginning Intro to Proofs

Algebra 1: We are learning about Inequalities and absolute value inequalities. How to help at home videos: Solving Absolute Value Equations and Inequalities - Number Line & Interval Notation - Algebra
