Family First Night
Family connections are at the heart of everything we do at BCSD. That’s why we host two special "Family First Nights" every school year—and tomorrow is our very first one for 2026-2027! We’re pausing all homework, sports, and after-school activities so you can enjoy uninterrupted time with your family. Whether you share a meal, play board games, or just catch up, we hope you take this time to unwind and make memories together.
Board of Education Special Recognition
Top student fundraisers for the 2026 Trike & Bike were recognized at Tuesday's Board of Education meeting. Together with our community partners, over 390 riders helped raise more than $89,000 for pediatric cancer research! Congratulations to BCSD's top fundraisers: Reagan Sekola, Stella Wambsgans, Abigail Gallagher, Annabelle Jedlicka and Amelia Grafton.
A special shout-out to Crestview student Stella Wambsgans, who has been a top fundraiser since 2023! We are so grateful to all of the students and families who supported this event and helped raise funds and awareness for such an incredible cause.
We also recognized Kidder for the highest participation percentage and Memorial for raising the most money overall.
Over the last six years, Brunswick Trike & Bike has raised over $325,000!
State of the Schools Presentation
We are grateful to all the local elected officials and candidates who joined us Thursday for our State of the Schools presentation. The event began with a tour of our new high school facility, made possible by the community's support of the 2023 construction bond. This local investment allowed us to leverage state co-funding, with the Ohio Facilities Construction Commission providing 39% of the total project cost.
During the presentation, Superintendent Jason Niedermeyer highlighted the incredible achievements across our district, including earning 4.5 stars on the state report card—exceeding expectations for the second consecutive year. He also outlined our mission, vision, and key strategic priorities. CFO Mark Pepera discussed the evolving landscape of public education finance, including recent legislative shifts that require districts to seek community support more frequently.
Unified Sports
Last week, Brunswick Middle School student-athletes brought their A game to a Unified Sports flag football game at Avon Middle School. The rain didn’t dampen the competition as BMS athletes competed against students from Highland, Avon, and Eastern Heights! Unified Sports brings students of all abilities together on the same team, fostering inclusion, friendship, and teamwork as they compete against other schools!
BHS Theater Department Presents Holka Polka!
Join us for the BHS Theatre Department's children’s play "Holka Polka"! When the witches of Fairy Tale Land are wrongfully accused, an unlikely trio—a gentle witch, a misunderstood wolf, and a far-from-ugly princess—embarks on a magical quest. Together, they'll meet iconic storybook characters, work to restore magic, free the prince, and claim their happily ever after in this fun, family-friendly show.

Important Information about Measles Protocols
Measles are back in the news! The Medina Gazette had a story in Friday’s paper about confirmed cases in our county. As a reminder, should a confirmed case happen in our school district, Ohio Revised Code Section 3313.671 and Section 3701.13 requires BCSD to exclude unvaccinated students from school immediately until they receive the required vaccination or until 21 days after the last case is reported. Measles vaccines are available from the Medina County Health Department: 330-723-9688, your primary care physician's office, an urgent care center (call first to confirm availability), or local pharmacies (age restrictions may apply).
