INDIANA COLLEGE CORE AT RCHS
Teachers who Teach Math courses for the ICC!!
This is part 1 of a 6 part series! I will be highlighting each of the categories of the Indiana College Core and which RCHS teacher teaches them! The first category that I would like to spotlight is the Quantitative Reasoning (Math) section. Mr. Riddell and Mrs. Brashaber currently teach these courses. ICC students need a minimum of 3 credits and no more than 15 in this section. Mr. Riddell teaches Trig with Analytic Geometry and Quantitative Reasoning. Mrs. Brashaber teaches Finite Mathematics and Calculus I.
Mrs. Brashaber has been teaching calculus for 20 years. She was affiliated with Vincennes University for 14 years and then switched to Ivy Tech this year for this Math 211 class. She has had students go on to careers in engineering, architecture, medicine, physical therapy, nursing, teaching, and many more. This class is often the first class that STEM students must take in their major, but there are many students who test out of any further math classes in their college career.

GREATNESS FROM STAFF AND STUDENTS
I-STAR
This week every year eight schools come together to recognize some very outstanding individuals. We hosted close to 200 guests for the annual I-Star dinner and ceremony. It was truly team effort that made this night so special. Amy Fox made a slide show that scrolled throughout dinner and then was used as a major part of the ceremony. Jill Carmony and her students made the desserts for the dinner. Connie and Jeff Amos provided the pulled pork. Megan Alexander put together 11 juniors to help greet and guide throughout the evening. Liz Meek and Collin McCartt did everything behind the scenes to pull this night off. Our very own cafeteria staff members Misty Fields, Tina Huffman, and Sandy Abrams worked the dinner for us. But the night was about the students and Teachers being honored. Congratulations to all of you.

SPECIAL SHOUT OUT
Selfless Volunteerism
I want to give e a special SHOUT OUT to these awesome 11 Junior students who came to help at the I-Star Dinner and Ceremony. Without these kids the night would not have been as successful as it was. These kids greeted people at the doors, walked around the dinner to be sure everyone got a chance to eat, guided visitors from the cafeteria to the Laughlin Center, and handed out programs. I asked Megan Alexander if she could gather some Junior students to help out and without hesitation she said absolutely. Thank you to Megan Alexander, Natalie Cooper, Avery Hill, Edgar Fernandez, Emma Bowles, Trisha Morgan, Andi Berkemier, Emma Hedrick, Heaven Denney, Jenna Lawler, and Mya Gwinnup for taking the time out of your busy lives to come and be such a great representative of RCHS and the community of Rushville. You made a HUGE impression on all of the visitors from the 7 other schools!!
Mrs. Meek and Mr. McCartt
You are only as good as those you work with!! I believe that statement and want to give a big SHOUT OUT to Collin McCartt and Liz Meek for helping organize and run the I-Star dinner and ceremony! These two work tirelessly all day and then bring their joy and enthusiasm to any event they attend! I can't do this job without these two wonderful human beings! Thank you for being my right and left hands!!!!
GREATNESS IN THE CLASSROOM
AMAZING PEOPLE!!!!
Anyone ever wonder what the day in a life of an RCHS Special Education teacher is like? I can tell you it is an absolutely exhausting yet a rewarding daily experience!! RCHS is so fortunate to have the people we have in these roles. Brittney Corum, Cassia Sherwood, Pam Schroeder, Nan Scanlan, and their fearless leader Christin Nichols are some of the best people you will find in our building. All day they spend doing push In services with their kids in a variety of classes and all handle a 90 minute block of working with kids from bell to bell. Often I leave the school at 5 or 6 PM and it never fails one or more of them are still here. They put in countless hours during the day as well as after hours all for the betterment of kids!!!! This department can't be mentioned without recognizing more great people who work with our Special Education students. Thank you Nikki Samms, Linda Drake, Karen Schneider, Yesenia Leon, Diana Shook, Megan Davis, Brandi Manghelli, and Brett Smith for all the love you put into these kids. OUR KIDS ARE IN GREAT HANDS!!!!! Christin do me a favor and repeat all of this to Nan!!!!
