LMS Family Update
October 13, 2026
Greetings Lockerman Families,
In just two short weeks we will be at the end of the 1st quarter! Please check your child's grades on PowerSchool and encourage them to finish the quarter strong. Many teachers will still allow missing assignments to be submitted. Reach out to them directly for questions about this. We will also be offering after school help with this. Be on the look out for an invitation to academic recovery session if your child qualifies.
We also have an opportunity to expand access to after school math tutoring. Tutoring takes place Tuesday-Thursday after school. If you would like more information, please sign up here by the end of the week: https://forms.gle/iktunEupvxmxuYL48. We have limited spots available!
We hope you will join us for our next family event. We are brining back a favorite from a couple of years ago with Basket BINGO next week. See below for additional details and rsvp here: https://forms.gle/5erou8pC6hYMkHT66.
Our first dance of the year is next Friday, October 23rd. Students must qualify to be eligible to purchase tickets. That means no referrals for the two weeks leading up to the dance and no unexcused absences this quarter. Tickets will go on sale next week in lunches. Additional details below. Costumes are allowed/optional. We are looking forward to a fun time!
If you have not yet submitted your child's Student Benefit form, please do so asap! This came home the first week of school. You simply need to check a box and sign the form. If you believe you have done so, please check with your child to make sure he or she has turned the form in to their homeroom teacher. Please reach out to Ms. Rae if you need another copy of the form. She can be reached at watkins.rae@ccpsstaff.org.
After school activities have begun, and we have bus transportation available Tuesdays-Thursdays for club participants. The bus leaves LMS at approximately 4:45 and does community stops. If you would like your child to ride the late bus, they should turn in a bus permission slip. Permission slips are available in the main office or by contacting Ms. Rae. There are many great opportunities for your child to get involved and get connected! Being involved in extracurriculars builds social skills and confidence, and improves attendance and overall school satisfaction. We encourage everyone to find an after school activity they are interested in! A list of clubs that are currently running was sent home last week in Wednesday folders and is included in this newsletter. Please reach out if you need help getting your child connected.

Policy Reminders
Cell Phones
Students will be issued a cell phone pouch on the first day of school in homeroom. Cell phones and wireless earbuds are to be locked in the pouch upon entering the building each day, and remain locked until dismissal. 3 Cell phone violations = phone ban (no phone on property for 30 days and confiscated cell phone must be picked up by a parent/guardian)
Tardies
5 tardies = lunch detention
10 tardies = after school detention
15 tardies = hall restriction/escort
Walk with a purpose and be on time to class!
Toys
Students should not bring toys that cause disruption to school. That would include squishies that can be cut or popped and lose their filling.

From the Health Suite
Healthy Students Are Ready to Learn
A headache, toothache, anxiety, or an ongoing health concern can make it difficult for a student to focus in the classroom.
Our partnership with Choptank Community Health System helps enrolled students receive important health services conveniently during the school day.
Choptank Health’s School-Based Health Centers provide medical, dental, behavioral health, and nutrition services for enrolled students.
Depending on your child’s needs and the services available at our school, the care team can help with preventive care, minor illnesses, chronic health conditions, healthy eating, stress, emotional well-being, and more.
October brings added attention to dental hygiene, nutrition, and mental health, but these needs matter throughout the school year. Early support can help students feel better, miss less class time, and remain ready to learn.
Has your child enrolled in School-Based Health?
Enrollment does not replace your child’s primary care provider. It gives your family another convenient way to access care and support during the school day.
Learn more and complete the registration forms at www.choptankhealth.org/school-based.
Thank you for helping us create a healthy, supported school community where every student has the opportunity to thrive.

Emailing School & District Staff
Spam filters are designed to identify emails that attackers or marketers use to send unwanted or dangerous content. They also throw out malware, malicious, and virus-infested emails and protect user security. Unfortunately, spam filtering is an inexact science that at times blocks legitimate messages.
Should you send an email to a staff member and not receive a reply within a reasonable amount of time (no more than 48 hours), please call the office.
