Important Senior Information
YEARBOOK AD
Deadline Friday, December 13
The Dragon Yearbook would like to offer you the opportunity to congratulate your graduating senior with a Senior Parent Ad. See below "2025 Senior Parent Ad Contract" for information and instructions on how to place an ad. The deadline is Friday, December 13, 2024. We encourage early submissions because space is limited. Also, if you pay for an ad online, you still must send the photos and copy (message for ad) to Mrs. Orth via email by the deadline.
Please contact Stephanie Orth, Dragon Yearbook Adviser, at Stephanie.Orth@lok12.org if you have any questions.
CAP/GOWN and ANNOUNCEMENTS
Order Announcements by December 1
Jostens also offers the official LOHS Graduation Jostens Announcements. These are the traditional custom-crafted, premium quality graduation announcements that are designed to reflect your class and school. They are a time-honored way to announce and preserve your graduation memories. If you plan to purchase these custom-created announcements, place order before December 1, 2024.
Cap and Gown Deadline December 31
if you have not ordered your student’s cap and gown from Jostens, the deadline has been extended to December 31, 2024, to ensure the gown arrives in time for graduation. Our gowns are custom with the LO logo on the front and the white stripes around the sleeves and therefore take longer to produce. This link, Jostens Cap and Gown Order will take you to the cap and gown order page. The cap does include a tassel, so it is not necessary to order a separate status one.
If your student is planning to wear a borrowed gown (gowns from before 2022 will not match the current gowns), please reach out to Toni Gwizdala, Event Secretary at LOHS, at 248-693-5420 Ext. 6079 or email toni.gwizdala@lok12.org, as soon as possible so it can be updated in our system. If purchasing a gown is a financial burden, please contact your student’s counselor, and let them know your student will need to borrow a school gown.
PROM UPDATE
REMINDER - If You Missed Prom Update In Weekly LOHS Newsletter
For the past several years LOHS has run in to scheduling conflicts in the spring with athletic teams competing in post season contests and the date for Prom. I have dealt with this situation as a parent of spring athletes and as the administration working on a solution.
To alleviate that reoccurring conflict, we are moving the date of Prom this spring. LOHS Junior/Senior prom will be held on Tuesday, May 20, 2025. We have limited options based on the size of our event and being restricted to only one local venue who can accommodate our needs. At this time in May, most seniors will have already completed their final day of school and juniors will have a late start Wednesday giving them extra time the following morning. Prom ends at 10:00 p.m. allowing chaperones and students ample time to get a good night’s sleep with the late start day beginning at 9:40 a.m.
We are also hoping that taking Prom off a Friday will alleviate some post prom at-risk behaviors that we have encountered in the past. As we continue to look to the future, we are investigating other dates and scenarios for prom during the 2026 and 2027 school years.
Thank you for your understanding and support. Protect the Thunder.
