This Week at GMSS

Good afternoon GMSS families,

I hope you were able to enjoy the weekend and stay dry!

We had a wonderful 8th grade dance on Thursday- it's always so nice to see our students enjoying this event as they prepare to leave GMSS and head to the high school!

Reminders of the final month:

Panorama Surveys will be administered over the next two weeks

8th Grade will be on the DC trip and DC experiences here May 6th - 9th

7th Grade will be taking a field trip to COSI May 5th & 6th

6th graders will be taking a field trip to the Caverns May 15th & 16th

We have our spring concert series in Band, Choir and Orchestra! Please see all dates below!

AWARDS NIGHT:

Our annual academic awards night is Monday, May 19th - you should have received the invitations if your child is eligible for this evening! Students invited to the awards night will also have the luncheon on Thursday, May 22nd. Permission slips were sent home!

SCHOOL supplies next year! For our current 6th & 7th grade students- we do offer Yubbler for your needs. This site has our supply lists and will deliver to your door! Please visit yubbler.com

You are welcome to purchase anywhere- our PTO earns a small percentage back and they prices are comparable for convenience. The site will be open soon and I will share when it is ready!

CHROMEBOOKS:

Students will keep Chromebooks over the summer- IF your student is transferring out of the district they will need to turn their Chromebooks into the office. Feel free to reach out if needed.

LAST DAY of school events:

8th grade clap out is 10:30! Our 8th grade students will be clapped out by all students, staff and parents who want to join as they head to the pool! Parents can meet at the sidewalk behind the building between Lincoln and GMSS. Permission slips went home last week:

6th & 7th grade will participate in field day beginning at noon!

WITH our DC trip this week - GMSS will celebrate teacher appreciation week next week!

Our PTO meetings are the 1st Tuesday of the month at 7:00pm. We run our meetings virtually and hope to have many attend!

Our next meeting is May 6th! At this meeting, we will be discussing officers for next year as well as the end of the school year items.

Athletics

Reminder to our students! This final quarter is what makes you eligible for a fall sport! Passing all classes and having a minimum of a 2.0 GPA is a must!

Please create an account in Final Forms and select ALL sports the student may be interested in throughout the school year. Doing this early helps avoid the need to re-sign forms later and ensures they receive important updates from coaches and the athletic Department regarding conditioning, tryouts, and other key information.
