Settling In and Calming Down!
“Today start your day with a smile, calmness of mind, coolness of emotions, and a heart filled with gratitude.”
—Anonymous
We are all settling in and calming down...schedules are just about finalized and students are on their way to another successful year at Tech High! Clubs will have an interest meeting in September in order to form, some sports are in full swing, Community Cafe had a great turnout, and I start my group Senior Meetings next week during advisory!
Back to School Night is next Tuesday, August 26th, and I hope to see you all there.
My newsletters are to inform parents mostly, but there will also be information for students. Some information carries over each week, but always look for the new stuff.
I am very easy to get ahold of and respond pretty quickly. If you ever need anything, please don't hesitate to reach out with any questions, clarification, or concerns.
See below for friendly reminders: Important Dates, Mental Health Tips/Resources, SRJC information, Scholarship opportunities, and volunteer opportunities.

Conservation Council Applications are Open!
We’re excited to announce that we are currently accepting applications for Conservation Council, Sonoma Land Trust’s youth development and environmental science program for high school students! This program empowers Sonoma County high school students to conduct primary research while learning about land conservation and open spaces.
Please help us spread the word! A flyer, in both English and Spanish, is attached.
The application deadline is August 24, 2025.
About Conservation Council
Starting in early September and continuing through the 2025-2026 school year, participants will explore topics such as conservation, ecology, climate change, nature journaling, outdoor leadership, and college and career preparedness. They’ll also explore the beautiful landscapes of Sonoma County, deepen their scientific skills, and work in teams to author a research paper and scientific poster. The Conservation Council meets weekly on Tuesday evenings for in-person workshops, with additional Saturday field expeditions every other week.
First-year Conservation Council Members receive a $1,500 stipend, along with a gear allowance of up to $200 to purchase necessary outdoor safety equipment during a staff-supported shopping trip. Participation is eligible for community service hours with most students earning over 180 hours during the program.
Watch our 3-minute video to hear directly from Conservation Council students about their experience in the program.

Mental Health Tip!
Did you know?
Come talk to me about anything, I will talk you through things, listen, come up with strategies to deal with anxiety, etc, and/or send you to some more in depth support that we have on campus this year!
Feeling anxious? Take a trip down memory lane and do some coloring for about 20 minutes to help you clear your mind. Pick a design that's geometric and a little complicated for the best effect.
