What a week! We had a very eventful week and came out on top. Last week we had Career Day, the Middle School Dance and Middle School Field Day. In montessori, there was a Lower Elementary Career Day & Primary's International Delights. I also want to thank everyone that thought of me & made me smile on National School Principal's Day. It is truly a pleasure serving this community!

This coming week is Teacher Appreciation Week! There are not enough words to express how great our teachers are at Dealey. We want to thank the PTA hospitality committee, parents and community for helping create a great week.

Only 3 more weeks of school! Onward & Upward!

About the Show

From the creators of Junie B. Jones The Musical, Dear Edwina JR. is a heartwarming musical about the joys of growing up. Written in a “show-within-a-show” format, Dear Edwina JR. is the perfect story for a new generation.

Dear Edwina JR. follows the adventures of plucky, advice-giver-extraordinaire, Edwina Spoonapple, as she directs the neighborhood kids in a series of buoyant production numbers for the latest edition of her weekly "Advice-a-Palooza.” Edwina and her friends share wisdom on everything from trying new foods to making new friends through clever, catchy and poignant songs.

Book and Lyrics by Marcy Heisler. Music by Zina Goldrich. Dear Edwina JR. is presented through special arrangement with Music Theatre International (MTI).

Good evening, Coach Disco friends,

After 17 years of serving our community and ensuring all students have access to an introduction to the lifelong sport of tennis, Coach is focusing on his recovery. As you may know, he is retiring from Dealey’s after-school tennis program in a couple of weeks. We wanted to provide an opportunity for this community to contribute to a nice sendoff for him.

I've included a Venmo link below for anyone who would like to contribute to a group gift card.

Some talented middle school students have offered to create a collage for him. If you are interested in participating in this work, please send a photo of your student, perhaps holding a tennis racket, directly to Elayna Mitchell at elayna.mitchell@gmail.com. If you have Coach Disco photos, they can also be used!

Elayna has also offered to create a montage with music of testimonials from kids, staff, and parents. Please feel free to send her a video clip.

4th Grade is an important transition and entry year here at Dealey. The purpose of this committee is to recruit and retain quality Dealey students at the 4th grade level. This committee will organize at least one annual summer activity and at least one school year community service project for our 4th graders.

Dear Dealey Families,

Every May we begin the process of assigning students to an appropriate class for next year. The Dealey staff spends much time and effort on this placement process. In putting together class lists for next year, we will consider many factors including research-based grouping strategies. We utilize the classroom teacher’s knowledge of every student, and in addition, our academic support teachers (504, ESOL, SPED), specialists, counselors and administrators provide input and review the proposed class lists.

As of 5/5/25 ,we have already completed rosters for our 25-26 Placement Committees.

We will only consider extenuating circumstances for medically documented purposes and law enforcement documented situations.

At this time, we will not conduct individual conferences or meetings with the staff, administration or counselors regarding moving students that are already placed in a Primary, Lower. Or Upper Elementary School classroom.

Best Fit Emails to Teacher Only (Current Students moving to new hall)

We will always consider the best fit & your child's personality traits. These details must be emailed directly to your student's teacher by April 30, 2025 for existing students.

Given the complexity of placing all students, we will NOT consider the following requests:

· Requests for a specific teacher.

· Requests that specific students be placed with your child.

· Requests NOT to have a specific teacher, unless you have had another child with that teacher in the past.

Summer Notification

Your child’s classroom teacher will be sent out to you by July 31st.

Please understand that once homeroom teachers are assigned and students are placed, the lists are final. Moving even one child from a class can upset the balance of a classroom or interfere with scheduling. Students approach the new school year in a positive light when we encourage them to be excited about making new friends and getting to know a new teacher.

We will not conduct individual conferences or meetings with the administration or counselors regarding placement committee decisions.

Dallas ISD Level I Appeal

If you need to file a placement complaint, you will be required to go through the formal Dallas ISD Appeal process. You will have only 10 business days after receipt of placement to file your formal appeal to the campus principal.

Again, each Dealey student will be hand placed with great care. Each student’s emotional well-being and academic success is our priority!

Students must obtain prior approval before using personal telecommunications or other personal electronic devices for instructional use. When students are not using the devices for approved instructional purposes, all devices must be turned off during the instructional day. Violations of the user agreement may result in withdrawal of privileges and other disciplinary action.
