What an incredible week of celebration and community! 🌟
💜Big congratulations to 🎉 Ms. Gamez, our third-grade teacher, for being selected as Teacher of the Year; Ms. Jackson, first-grade teacher, for being named Rookie Teacher of the Year; and Ms. Smalley, Lead Custodian, for earning the Aspire Award! 🌟 We are so grateful for their dedication and commitment to our Lipscomb Family! 🦁💛
We kicked things off with 🍧 Kona Ice, recognizing our scholars for earning a 🎉 “B” campus rating—thank you to our amazing PTA for planning and sponsoring this event!
Our 🏫 Academy 4 mentors returned to inspire our fourth graders through 🥕 healthy snacks, 🤝 leadership challenges, and teamwork activities.
We also had productive 👩🏫 Parent-Teacher Conferences, celebrating student growth and setting goals for continued success.
Finally, we wrapped up the week with a spooktacular 🎃 Trunk or Treat! Thank you to our families for the candy 🍬, creativity 🚗, and community spirit 👻.
We’re so grateful to our PTA and families for making Lipscomb such a joyful place to learn and grow! 💛💜

THIS WEEK
NEW INFORMATION
Halloween Week at Lipscomb
We are excited for a festive week of learning at Lipscomb. While students may enjoy the spirit of Halloween, Dallas ISD does not identify Halloween as a food celebration day.
To ensure a safe and focused week:
- No candy, treats, cupcakes, or goody bags may be brought from home
- Teachers will not distribute candy or food to students
- Learning continues as normal throughout the week
On Friday, we will celebrate our love of reading with Storybook Character Day! Students may dress as a favorite book character as long as costumes are:
- School-appropriate
- Easy to learn and play in
- Without masks, scary makeup, or toy weapons
Thank you for helping us keep Halloween week healthy, safe, and joyful with a focus on learning and literacy.
Celebrating Red Ribbon Week at Lipscomb!
E- Sports
E- Sports will be staring on Thursday, October 30th from 3:40- 4:40 PM. There are only 10 sports available for eligible students grades 4th and 5th. The fall tournament will be held on Saturday, December 13th from 9:00 AM- 5:00 PM at Obama Male Leadership Academy. Please contact Ms. Wilson for any questions.
Did You Know?!
- Children who begin kindergarten well‑prepared are much more likely to succeed academically later: one study found that students who met readiness benchmarks on a kindergarten readiness assessment had an 85% chance of being proficient in reading by the end of 3rd grade.
- Research shows that if students struggle to read by 3rd grade, they are much more likely to fall behind permanently.
- Students who are not reading proficiently by the end of 3rd grade are four times more likely to drop out of high school.
- Reading at grade level by 3rd grade is the single greatest predictor of future academic success and life outcomes.
🎯 What This Means for Home Learning
- For Kindergarten families: building strong skills now (language, literacy, social‑emotional, motor) makes a big difference. When children begin school ready, they’re much more likely to achieve later.
- For 3rd Grade families: supporting reading at home is critical. Being on grade level in reading by end of 3rd grade unlocks learning in the years ahead — and falling behind now can create long‑term gaps.
- For all families: even simple daily routines — reading aloud, talking about learning, supporting homework, making home practice a habit — contribute significantly to student success.

We invite you to take a short 10–15 minute survey to share your experiences and feedback. Your responses are confidential and will only be reviewed by TEA to guide improvement efforts.

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT
Arrival Safety Reminder
This is a friendly reminder to follow all posted traffic signs and routes during morning arrival.
Due to the limited space surrounding our campus, it’s essential that everyone helps maintain a safe and efficient flow of traffic. Please be mindful of our volunteers, students, and staff who assist daily — their safety depends on each of us doing our part.
Thank you for keeping our arrival safe and showing what it means to be part of The Pride!
