As we began planning for the 2026–2027 school year calendar, there were two unique circumstances that shaped the calendar options this year:

  • Labor Day Timing: Labor Day falls later than usual on September 7, 2026, which affects potential start dates for the school year.

  • Green Meadow Move: Green Meadow Elementary School will be moving into the new building during and immediately following Winter Break, with the transition planned for January 4–5, 2027. This mid-year move is an exciting milestone, but it required careful scheduling to support staff, students, and families during the transition.

These factors were taken into account when we developed this year's calendar.

There are also more early-release days to focus on teaching and learning through professional development, data analysis, and the use of our new literacy and math curricula.

Thank you for your support, and enjoy planning for 2026-2027!

The Green Meadow community is wrapping up our “choose kind” spirit week this week, where we’ve been busy celebrating friendliness, supporting and caring for one another as well as indulging in comfort and fun (hello pj day!) for ourselves. Not only is it important to treat others with kindness, it is equally as vital to treat ourselves with kindness. This concept of self care can sometimes be confusing for kids. Here are five ways to teach the importance of self care and an exploration of the simple foundations of self-care for kids that offer guidance. Don’t forget to model your own self care! Questions or feedback? Please contact Julie Danforth at jdanforth@maynard.k12.ma.us.

March is Read Across America month and Green Meadow will be celebrating reading again this year with a March Madness Reading Challenge.

To support our reading challenge program, we are looking for donations of boxes of 2 gallon zipper-sealed plastic bags so that students can take books back and forth from school to home. We will be collecting these donations in our school lobby from 2/9 - 2/13. Donations can also made through our PTO Amazon wishlist. Thanks in advance for your support!

New Green Meadow School Project New Green Meadow School Project

It’s getting harder to see the incredible progress happening inside our new school now that the exterior walls are up and the building is fully enclosed but behind those walls, exciting transformation is underway!

The construction team is making significant strides in the first and second grade wings. Classrooms are beginning to take shape, with walls defined, systems installed, and spaces that will soon be filled with learning, creativity, and collaboration coming to life.

These photos offer a special behind-the-scenes look at the craftsmanship and care going into every detail. From infrastructure and natural lighting to the layout of shared spaces, each step brings us closer to opening doors to a vibrant, welcoming environment designed specifically for our youngest learners.

We are so excited to share this progress with you; and even more excited for the day when these spaces are filled with the energy and joy of our students!
