AMS STUDENTS PARTICIPATE IN NO PLACE FOR HATE
Algonquin Middle School students have learned about the No Place for Hate program and the different parts of the NPFH pledge. No Place for Hate is a collaborative program that aims to improve school climate and awareness about bias and bullying. AMS has been a participant of No Place for Hate for more than 10 years! Mrs. Baker and Mrs. Amadon worked together to host a pledge signing and hallway display for all students and staff members.
STUDENTS SELECTED TO HAVE WORK INCLUDED IN BOOK ANTHOLOGY
Two Averill Park High School students, Vivian Savage and Charlie Wilcox, have been selected to have their short stories included in Fright Club: One Dark Night, an anthology run by the Young Writers organization. This competition challenged participants to craft horror stories of 100 words or less. Both students are part of Mr. Porter’s Literary Club at APHS. Mr. Porter brought the competition to the Club, challenging students to submit their best work to the national organization. The book is set to be published on April 7, 2025.
STUDENTS LEARN ABOUT THREE KINGS DAY
Mrs. Viloria's third grade class at Poestenkill Elementary School has been learning about holidays around the world. 3V parent, Mrs. Nelson, visited on Three Kings Day to discuss how the people of Spain celebrate the holidays. She brought a King Cake to share and one classmate found the king inside the cake, ensuring them good luck! Third graders even learned some Spanish words from the presentation!

SL@MS CLUB RAISES MORE THAN $600
Prior to the holiday break, the SL@AMS Club (Service Learning at AMS) worked very hard on their annual Cookie Gram fundraiser to support the AMS Food Pantry! Club members, along with Mrs. Baker, AMS staff members, and community volunteers, made almost 500 cookie gram packages to hand out to students and staff members before break!
