A Message from Principal Peguero
Hello Lancer Families,
It was such a joy to see so many of you at our TK–8 Back to School Night. Thank you for partnering with us in building a strong start to the school year. Our High School Back to School Night will be held on September 30th, beginning in the auditorium before families visit classrooms. Please save the date—we are excited to share the work happening at the high school level.
This week, our middle school students will complete the i-Ready Math and English Diagnostic. Linked below you will find short videos and information about the assessment. The diagnostic helps us better understand each student’s needs so that we can plan instruction and set goals to support growth.
In addition, students in grades 4–12 will take the LBUSD PULSE Survey. This survey, aligned to our Board Goals, is an important tool to measure students’ sense of belonging. We deeply value student voice, and last year our Raising Lancer Voices group collaborated with Dr. Jill Baker to launch a platform that amplifies student perspectives. We look forward to welcoming returning members and inviting new students to join the conversation this year.
Thank you, families, for your support and encouragement. Here’s to another great week ahead for our Lancers!
Warmly,
Emma Peguero
Avalon TK-12 , Principal
Gracias,
Emma Peguero, Directora de Avalon Tk-12

Lunch Drop Off
Lunch Drop Off
In efforts to eliminate the foot traffic during lunch time please leave your students' lunches in the front office rather than taking it to the lunch benches or sitting with them.
We understand that middle school students will wait for you by the gym doors and a quick drop off like that is ok.
No Parking Zones
Turnaround
In efforts to maintain a flow of traffic at elementary drop off please be sure you are not parking inside of the turnaround. Our vans do take alot of space and when there are carts or vehicles in the narrow path it makes it difficult for others to get by. Please know our rec aides are there to assist and appreciate your cooperation.

School Fundraising
Rules and Regulations for Fundraising
School Fundraising
So you want to fundraise for a group on campus? That’s fantastic! However, there are some rules, procedures, and timelines that must be followed in order to be able to continue to fundraise and for your group to be successful and be in compliance legally. Please contact the activities person (Melinda) or the financial clerk (Kat) if you have any questions. The link below will take you to a video (English or Spanish) on how fundraising must be conducted going forward.
IMPORTANT RULES TO FOLLOW FOR FUNDRAISING
There are a lot of rules and regulations regarding fundraising for a public school. The major ones are listed below.
If the school’s name and/or school club or group name is utilized in fundraising, then it is a school fundraiser.
The state legislature passed Business and Professional Code 17510 to 17510.95 to safeguard the public against fraud and deceit, to foster fair and encourage fair solicitations, and to provide for transparency.
California Education Code section 48932 (K-12) authorizes student body organizations (Associated Student Body Student Council) to be responsible for and conduct fundraising activities.
All fundraising activities must adhere to the guidelines established by the the ASB Constitution and Bylaws and in accordance with the Board of Education Rules and Regulations along with the State of California Department of Education Rules and Regulations.
Before approving any events, ASB must consider many issues including
Student safety
Current laws and regulations
Appropriateness of the fundraiser
Schedule conflicts
The following activities are NOT allowed under any circumstances:
Raffles and games of chance
Dunk tanks
Bounce houses
Mechanical or animal rides
Trampolines or mini-trampolines
Use of darts, arrows, or other weapons
Destruction of cars or similar objects with hammers
Objects thrown at people without protection for the person
All monies collected from any form of fundraising activity must be deposited through the Student Body Finance office immediately at the end of the event.
All expenses must be paid for by check or petty cash through the financial clerk and never directly from the proceeds of any fundraiser.
Original supporting invoices and receipts are required for all expenditures.
We cannot accept or use Zelle, Venmo, PayPal, or any other cash app transfer service.
Accepting checks is highly discouraged.
Non-student organizations (PTO, for example) are not to solicit funds on behalf of a school or its students without prior written approval from the governing body for each individual fundraising event.

11. Se desaconseja totalmente aceptar cheques.
