HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!
We wish everyone a Happy Mother's Day! Our school would not be the same without the excellent job mothers do! Whether it was our own moms who helped guide us as we grew up, or the mothers and grandmothers who are helping the current generation of children, we owe you our gratitude! We hope you have a peaceful and beautiful day.
Steuart Weller Recognized as a Common Sense School
We are thrilled to announce that Steuart Weller has been officially recognized as a Common Sense School by the national nonprofit Common Sense Media.
This honor recognizes our commitment to teaching students how to navigate the digital world with confidence and care. In today’s tech-driven world, we know that "being online" is about more than just using a device—it’s about digital citizenship.
What This Means for Our Students
By using Common Sense Education’s research-based tools, we are helping our students master essential skills, including:
Safety & Privacy: Protecting personal info and reputations.
Media Balance: Finding a healthy mix of screen time and real-world play.
Kindness Online: Navigating relationships and preventing cyberbullying.
Critical Thinking: Identifying "fake news" and being smart creators.
By preparing our students to use technology safely and responsibly, we are providing them an opportunity to build lifelong habits to help them succeed in a tech-driven world

PTO FUN RUN is Friday, May 15, 2026
https://myfunrun.com/wellerwildcatdash
This year's FUN RUN goal is to raise $25,000. We have already reached $18,000. All profits from the Fun Run will go to support Sunrise Day Camp. This is a camp that supports children who have cancer as well as their siblings. The 2026 FUN RUN is in honor of Wyatt Triplett who lived a life filled with joy and zest. Wyatt loved his family; he loved dinosaurs and dragons; he loved being a Weller Wild Cat. We hope that each family can make a contribution in Wyatt's honor.

THANK YOU PTO!
Lisa Pepple and Vy Nyugen organized an amazing Teacher Appreciation Week. Lots of parents donated food and money to make the week extra special. Our staff felt truly supported and appreciated!
News from SWES PTO
PTO: What does that even mean?? The PTO is a Parent and Teacher Organization that builds community among families, bridges the gap between teachers and parents, and enriches the school experience. The PTO organizes fun events, raises money to help families in our community, and assists with school projects. The Weller PTO will be losing a significant number of parents next year. We're looking for new parents to step in and help our team of awesome volunteers! Being involved in the PTO is a great way to become plugged in and get to know your child's teachers, friends, and fellow parents. We have a variety of open roles with different commitment levels. We'd love to chat more about how you might help.

Supporting Social Emotional Growth at Home
Here are questions you can ask your children about what will be presented this week in their daily SEL lessons
Problem Solving
As students continue learning about problem-solving, grades K-2 will learn about apologizing, asking for what they want/need, and choosing a good solution.
Grades 3-5 will learn about the possible outcomes for each person involved when choosing a solution. Will each person get some of what they want and need?
K - Ask your child to teach you the three parts of the apology they learned. Encourage them to apologize when the opportunity arises at home.
1 - Ask your child to sing the problem-solving song they learned this week. Have your child teach you the tune and sing it together. Click Here for Lyrics
2 - Ask your child if playing rock, paper, scissors would be a good solution if they spilled water on someone’s paper. Why or why not?
3 - Ask your child to explain how they would decide whether a solutions works for each person involved in a problem.
4 - Talk with your child about a time when they successfully solved an interpersonal problem. What solutions did they consider, and what were the pros and cons of each solution? Describe a time when you found it helpful to think of each person’s point of view when predicting whether a solution to an interpersonal problem might work.
5 - Tell your child about a simple interpersonal problem that you’ve experienced and describe each person’s point of view about the problem. Ask them to help you think of solutions and predict the possible outcomes of each solution.
