Scholarship Opportunities
2025-2026
What is FAFSA & Why it Matters
Don’t Wait—FAFSA Opens October 1, 2025!
Applying for college aid starts with the FAFSA, and the sooner you submit it, the better. Not only is FAFSA free and your gateway to federal aid, but it also determines eligibility for Maryland grants like the Guaranteed Access and Educational Assistance programs—if filed by June 1, 2027. Maryland students aiming for priority benefits should submit by February 1, 2026.
If you are completing the FAFSA for the first time you should create your StudentAid.gov account NOW!
YOU CAN ACCESS $ TO AFFORD THE COST OF COLLEGE...see the steps below
Applying for scholarships and financial aid is an essential part of the college planning process. While many students may receive merit scholarships, all students may receive financial aid based on family income and resources. Seniors and their families should become informed about scholarship opportunities and financial aid (including but not limited to, the process for application at individual colleges and universities). Visit your college's Financial Aid website and contact them with questions.
Tips for Scholarships
- Consult college/university websites for scholarship information…not all scholarships will come through the Scholarship Newsletter.
- Be aware of all deadlines…are they “postmarked” deadlines or “received by” deadlines??
- Additional FREE scholarship searches: www.fastweb.com, www.finaid.org, https://studentscholarships.org/
- Remember to look for scholarships offered at businesses you frequent, employers of parents or relatives, and scholarships exclusive to the college you are wanting to attend.
- See the list below for other specific scholarships that have been advertised to us...
