🍎 Principal News 🍎
Malvern Families,
We hope your children are coming home full of excitement and stories about their amazing days at Malvern! As we walk the halls, it’s an honor to witness engaging lessons, student collaboration, and special memories being made every single day. Thank you for the unwavering support you give as we continue developing our Red Hawks into well-rounded, confident, and compassionate individuals.
We truly have the BEST school community, and there’s no place we’d rather be. Thank you to everyone who joined us for our STIX Spirit Night! Your support means so much. Don’t worry if you missed this one. There will be more opportunities throughout the year to show your spirit and support our school community.
Be sure to check out the Malvern Messenger for news you can use. We’re excited to welcome visitors and volunteers back on August 25th. A friendly reminder to complete your volunteer background check if you haven’t already.
Proud to be a Red Hawk,
Inetra Nelson, Principal & Melinna Herrera, Assistant Principal
Inetra Nelson, Directora y Melinna Herrera, Subdirectora
THANK YOU for attending last week's STIX Icehouse Spirit Night!
Thank you for all who came out last week to support Malvern's first Spirit Night of the year at STIX Icehouse. It was a great success and fun to see so many scholars and their families enjoying time together! We look forward to sharing more Spirit Night's with you and your family over the remainder of the school year.
Malvern's Fall Fundraiser is almost here!
Our big fundraiser starts in a few days! Our goal is to raise $25,000.00 for important items and services that are not currently funded at this time.
We are asking ALL parents to pre-register their student(s) here:
https://www.shopfund.com/parentregister
Make sure you use Group Code: XKLPT
Please get at least one person to support our fundraiser before our official kick-off day on Thursday. Any student that is registered and adds 10 contacts will be entered into a drawing for a chance to win over 1,000 prizes. How cool would it be if we took a chunk out of our goal BEFORE the fundraiser even starts?
Thank you so much for your help!
What is FFA?
FFA is a student organization that helps young people learn about leadership, teamwork, and careers in agriculture. But it’s not just about farming—you can explore science, technology, animals, plants, business, and more! Members get to compete in contests, attend fun events, meet new friends, and develop skills that will help you for the rest of your life. FFA’s motto is “Learning to Do, Doing to Learn, Earning to Live, Living to Serve”—which means we focus on growing as leaders and making a positive difference in the world.
You are invited to a parent and student meeting for 3rd - 12th graders interested in showing a livestock show animal with McKinney FFA on Thursday, August 28, 2025 at 6pm. The meeting will be held at the McKinney ISD Ag Barn, 1175 Old Mill Road, McKinney, Texas 75069.
FREE Dental Events
Free Dentistry Day is a day dedicated to providing access to free dentistry across the nation. Thousands of dentists across the United States come together in an effort to give back to the communities they serve, by providing residents with easily accessible, high-quality dental care for free. Those interested in receiving select Free Dentistry Day services simply have to show up to a participating dental office! The doctor(s) and their team will take care of the rest, leaving you with a healthier, happier smile.
There will be two upcoming dental events in our area on Saturday, September 6, 2025. Visit the button below to find the locations closest to McKinney.

Medical Consent Need for New Texas Law
Recent changes in Texas law now require McKinney ISD to obtain additional parent/guardian consent before providing medical care through the school nurse or trained staff. The link below takes you to a consent form that is only available in English and Spanish. Parents can also access the consent form by logging into the SSO portal and choosing the MISD Parental Consent Form.
The language of the consent is below:
“ I agree and understand that the school nurse or other assigned staff may provide routine, health-related care services throughout the course of the school year. Signed medication forms(25/26), Individualized health plans(IHP)(25/26), or medical accommodations through the Individualized Education Plans(IEP), ARD or 504 will remain in force. I also agree that this includes that the district will seek appropriate emergency care for a student with or without consent, should it be deemed necessary.” YES or NO are the two choice options.
Once this form is filled out, a unique link is sent to guardian 1's email address that has the medical care verbiage as stated above. This form may only be completed by guardian #1. You must manually type your email into the consent box when prompted, not allow it to autofill. The email address must match the email address provided to MISD upon registration. Google Chrome is the preferred browser for compatibility.
2025-2026 Learning Plans
Dear Parents, you may access the 2025-2026 learning plans for your child's class on our MISD Teaching and Learning website.
Student Library Book Check Outs and EFB policy
Our campus is committed to providing parents with efficient access to our online library catalog. The Destiny online library catalog can be viewed any time by logging into the parent SSO portal. In response to Senate Bill 13, we are enabling automatic email notifications for parents to view what their student has checked out from the Destiny library catalog if there is checkout activity during the school day. Additionally, S.B. 13 includes the right for parents to block access to specific titles within the online Destiny catalog for their student. If you would like to access your student’s library account to view what they have checked out, review their checkout history, or block them from accessing specific books, please visit the Parent Library Access Tool page located on the MISD Library Services website. If you would like to review specific policies related to library materials, please refer to MISD board policy EFB Local. If you have questions or would like to provide feedback on library materials and services, please contact our campus Library Media Specialist Susan Hefley via email shefley@mckinneyisd.net.

Visitors and Volunteers
MISD requires every visitor/volunteer to report to the office to sign in and receive a visitor badge. At the camera outside of the school, please state your name, show your ID, and explain why you are here at school.
A software system called “Hallpass School Visitor Management” is used to scan in visitors. A valid, unexpired state or government issued photo ID must be presented each time you visit, volunteer, or pick up a student. If you arrive on campus without your driver’s license, you will be asked to leave and return to campus when you have identification. A photocopy of your ID will not be accepted.
MISD requires that volunteers complete a criminal background check every school year. If you plan to volunteer anywhere in the building or chaperone a field trip, please complete the required volunteer application at http://www.mckinneyisd.net/parents/volunteer/
Visitors and volunteers may begin serving on campus beginning on Monday, August 25, 2025.
MISD will not offer a grace period this school year for you to complete your annual background check. All background checks must be completed and approved before you can serve on campus. Visitors and volunteers are welcome on campus during the school day (8:10AM-3:20PM) starting Monday, August 25, 2025. Thank you for allowing our staff this time to establish relationships and routines with our Red Hawks before welcoming visitors and volunteers on campus.
