π£ Shoutouts & Snapshots
What I noticed at BMS this week...
6th Grade scientists are learning about light and the anatomy of the eye through their very first dissection of sheep eyes...a lesson, I'll be honest, that leaves many of our students feeling rather sheepish.
Our 8th grade mathematicians used hands-on algebra tiles to explore mathematical concepts, build their problem-solving skills, and deepen their understanding of how positive and negative values work together as part of our CPM math curriculum.
BMS students came together to support our 7th and 8th grade football teams last Tuesday night against Adrian. We had a similar event for field hockey earlier this fall and will host another for volleyball soon! Thank you to Mrs. DeLand and our council students for making this happen and supporting our student athletes.
β Info & Updates
Congrats, Mrs. Chinavare!
Kristi Chinavare is the recipient of our first "Educator of the Month"! Kristi is a phenomenal educator who demonstrates flexibility, patience, communication, creativity, AND humility when she tells you that on most days she does none of these things. What Kristi won't tell you about are the countless hours she spends on weekends and evenings in the building, the times that she volunteers as tribute for things none of us want to do, the excellent communication she has with parents by phone, in person, and via email, the time she invests in every detail of her work, and the coordination she engages in with colleagues to help kids.
We appreciate Kristi and all Beach educators every day.
Bulldog Bravos
You can use this form throughout the year to give shout-outs and messages of gratitude to our staff. No need to wait for an "appreciation week"! We will ensure that the staff member you select receives your words of kindness--they go a long way.
Thank you for submitting so many of these already! They have made a huge positive impact on our staff.
Here is our staff directory.
Have Games to Donate?
As you know, we do not allow phones at any point in the school day, and we do not allow students to bring their iPads to lunch in order to foster a culture of healthy social interaction and limit screen time.
Kids love to play games together at lunch (especially 6th grade, currently, but other grades, as well), and we could use some additional games to upgrade our collection. If you have spare games lying around or would otherwise like to donate, we could always use more, especially as the winter approaches.
In particular, the following games are extremely popular:
- Chess (probably most popular with all grade levels)
- Uno
- Checkers
- Sorry!
- Puzzles
Feel free to drop off any games, or send them with students to drop off, to the front office. We are working on an organization and check-out system to ensure they are well-taken care of for all students.
Thank you!

Volunteering to help with a school trip or event? Find the ICHAT form here.
If you'd like to drop in and chat about something, I hold "coffee with the principal" meetings on Tuesdays and Fridays. These are 30-minute time slots, and I have four available each week.
I can do these in person or virtually. If you need to meet outside of these times, please reach out to my assistant, Erika Clark, to set up an appointment.
