Mystery Science🔬🥽

Mrs. Steinwandtner and Mrs. Urso’s students worked together on a Mystery Science experiment called “Why Are So Many Toys Made Out of Plastic?” The students learned about melting and states of matter. They conducted an investigation to determine which types of candy melt in hot water. After the experiment the students discussed their observations to decide which candy would be the best choice to bring to a hot summer camp!

Preschool Clothing Study👚🧦

Ms. Laura’s Prek class has been learning all about clothes this month and last week they learned about sewing, knitting, crocheting, looming, and weaving as forms of creating different types of fabric as well as using those fabrics to create clothing. They made their own weaving, investigated types of fabric and even used their fine motor skills to sew their own pocket!

Ms. Corredor’s Pre-K class explored three different kinds of soaps: powder, liquid, and bar. They placed each soap into a bag and mixed it to see which kind of soap would make the most bubbles. They explored the different sizes of bubbles using magnifying glasses. Our powder soap made the most bubbles!

Groundhog Day

Miss Caiola's 4th grade class celebrated with many fun activities in honor of Groundhog Day! All three subjects combined ELA, Writing, and Social Studies. They wrote a letter to Punxsutawney Phil about their predictions, practiced comprehension skills by reading a text about the history of this day, and then responded to the matching questions. In Social Studies, we completed a KWL Jamboard before watching a BrainPop video that answered a ton of our questions!

Are you ready for an early Spring?🌷☀️

School Clubs

STEAM club started on Wednesday February 7th! It will be every Wednesday morning from 7:30 to 8:30 am. In this club we will be doing activities incorporating science, technology, engineering, art and math. For our first session we focused on setting rules and goals for our club. Students also worked on a team building activity where they had to use only 20 sheets of paper and make the tallest tower they could!
