Positive Behavioral Supports at Lilja
Dear Families,
We’re excited to share about a spirited and fun event happening over the next few weeks at school—the Staff Spirit Showdown! This Rock-Paper-Scissors tournament brings our staff together in friendly competition to highlight and celebrate the core value of Respect.
This will take place the week we return from break!
What Will This Look Like?
- Each staff member receives a strand of beads representing their team color.
Throughout the week, staff challenge colleagues to quick Rock-Paper-Scissors matches during breaks and passing times.
Winners collect beads from their opponents, and the tournament builds excitement as teams compete!
All matches are played with kindness, fairness, and good sportsmanship. Students will be engaging in ongoing discussions and learning activities about being a good sport and cheering for others in a respectful manner.
The week ends with a final tournament during a whole-school assembly to crown the champion.
How You Can Reinforce Respect at Home
Talk about the importance of being kind and fair when playing games or competing.
Encourage your child to cheer for others, whether they win or lose, using kind words and positive body language.
Model respectful communication by listening carefully and celebrating effort over just winning.
Use family games or challenges as opportunities to practice good sportsmanship and empathy.
Discuss how respecting others helps build strong friendships and community.
