Bobcat Choir Performs at Ashland Dr. King Celebration 2024

Each year, the city of Ashland puts together a celebration to commemorate the life and work of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and to inspire our community to do better at living up to his dream. This year, our own Bellview Choir performed "Nothing More" by The Alternate Routes. It was amazing to see all of our Bobcats participating in the celebration!

Please join us for a special screening of a soon to be released documentary from The Oregon Shakespeare Festival's 2019 production of Hairspray. Including Us: Exceptional Teens at The Oregon Shakespeare Festival is a rare insiders look backstage at the building of Hairspray for the 2019 season. The documentary focuses on four disabled teenagers who were hired as professional actors for the ten month run. Included in the cast is Luke Hogan Laurenson, a former Bellview Bobcat. Our students got to meet Luke at an assembly in November.

The documentary has not yet been released to the public and Bellview has been given special permission for this one time viewing. It is most suitable for students in grades 3-5

After over a year of waiting for installation, we were finally able to open our new playground to students today! They are so excited! We are so excited! The installers weren't able to get the shades installed yet due to muddy conditions in the field being unable to support the boom truck, but we are able to safely play without those. Thank you to all of our jog-a-thon runners, donors, and volunteers for fund raising to help make this dream come true!

On a less exciting note, someone stole a grey disk swing from the construction zone this weekend. If you happen to have any information about that, or could facilitate the return of the swing, we would really appreciate it, it would cost about $1400 to replace.

Our wonderful Child Development Specialist, Michelle Bolinger, will be shifting her schedule this week. She will be at Bellview, Mondays, Wednesdays, and Friday afternoons. She is starting as a Counselor at the high school half time starting tomorrow. Our Behavior Health Specialist, Britt Humphries, will be stepping in as Michelle's counterpart next week here at Bellview. They are both amazing humans that our students love! We are fortunate to have their support!

School Supply Funding School Supply Funding

This year, we tried something new with student school supplies. Rather than having a published list for families to purchase items individually, we purchased the items in bulk at a reduced cost so that we could pass those savings on to you. The cost per student is $40, which we asked families to pay for if they could. The total cost of purchases was $10,000. So far, we have brought our donations up to $7,300! If you have not yet sent in $40 for school supplies and are able to do so, it would sure be appreciated! We would like to continue this tradition, and would like to make it as cost neutral as possible. If you feel moved to send more than $40, we would take that too! Thank you!

Volunteering at School Volunteering at School

How To Become a Volunteer:

Step 1:
Complete the Volunteer Registration Form, which includes the Notice of Background Check form.

Once completed, please submit the forms and a copy of your driver’s license to the Office Manager of the school where the volunteer position is needed. Forms may also be mailed or faxed to the school office. If no school is specified, forms may be submitted to 885 Siskiyou Blvd., Ashland, OR 97520.
Once you have passed your background check, you are cleared to apply to volunteer for any position throughout the school year. No additional background check is necessary, however, it is necessary to repeat this process each school year.

Step 2:
Mark your calendar with the agreed upon days and times. Please note that certain positions require training and a time commitment. Make sure you can fulfill the volunteer commitments before agreeing to the position.

Be prompt and dependable. Call ahead if you are ill or unable to keep your appointed times. When you commit to volunteering, people are depending on you.
