Happy Teacher and Staff Appreciation Week! Happy Teacher and Staff Appreciation Week!

A note from Mr. Lee A note from Mr. Lee

This past week we had the opportunity to celebrate an incredible group of people during Staff Appreciation Week here at Carter Middle School.

Schools are built on relationships, teamwork, patience, and heart, and Carter is fortunate to have staff members who give all of those things to our students every single day. Teachers, counselors, office staff, aides, custodians, kitchen staff, security, substitutes, and support staff all play a role in creating the culture and community that makes Carter special.

What people often do not see are the early mornings, late nights, extra conversations with students, checking in on kids having difficult days, covering for one another, solving problems on the fly, and constantly finding ways to make school a place where students feel connected and supported.

This week was a reminder of just how thankful we are for this team.

A huge thank you goes out to our amazing PTO for helping make the week special through snacks, treats, breakfast items, etc. Their continued support and generosity toward our staff never go unnoticed and is greatly appreciated.

As principal, I say it often, but I truly mean, Carter is not great because of one person. It is great because of the people inside this building who continue to show up for kids' day after day.

We are proud of the culture being built here and thankful for the partnership we share with our families and community.

Special Remarks from Mr. Syswerda Special Remarks from Mr. Syswerda

Our track meet has been moved to Wednesday, May 13, 2026 at Sterling Heights High School. All events begin at 4:00pm.

Monday, May 11 is the beginning of our last earned privilege period for the year. Our earned privilege system has been a great success this year. Overall, our students have done a great job passing their classes, being on time and avoiding suspensions. We will continue the program next year with YELLOW Cougar Cards.
