Week of May 4, 2026

Hello Nashoba Community,

I hope this message finds you doing well. Nashoba has been buzzing with activity over the past few weeks! May feels like the busiest month of the year. On Saturday, we hosted a very successful Junior Prom at Devens Common for the class of 2027. I want to thank the junior class and their guests for a fantastic evening and also thank our classes advisors Mr. Melbourne and Mr. Tucker as well as the chaperones for all their help. It was a fantastic evening!

AP testing begins this week. Students taking AP exams should ensure they know the scheduled times for the exams and make sure to charge and update their chrome books so that they can access the most recent version of blue book.

Today is the beginning of teacher appreciation week! Many thanks to Ms. Sanford, the Key Club, School Council and our fantastic parents who set up a coffee bar and snack station in the main office conference room and put messages in each teacher's mailbox. Happy Teacher Appreciation Week!

Have a wonderful week!

Sincerely,

Dr. Kate Boynton, principal

DECA International Conference

I’m excited to share some incredible news from last week’s DECA International Career Development Conference in Atlanta, GA. Competing against more than 26,000 students from across the United States and seven countries, our Nashoba DECA students delivered a truly historic performance.

For the first time in our program’s history, we have a 1st place International Champion:

  • Dulcie Chrystall-Dubois and Odile Berzonskis earned 1st place in Hospitality and Tourism Operations Research, bringing home Nashoba’s first-ever Glass trophy

We also had multiple students place among the top competitors in the world:

  • Ryan Carr – Top 10 in the world, Community Giving Campaign
  • Zain Khan and Malik Shannak – Top 15 in the world, Independent Business Plan

In total, Nashoba was represented by 22 outstanding student competitors, all of whom demonstrated professionalism, preparation, and pride in representing our school on an international stage.

This is a significant achievement for our program and a reflection of the hard work these students have put in all year. Congratulations!

NRHS German Exchange

The German Exchange program, now in its 20th year, concluded its reciprocal visit from April 11–25 in Weilheim, Germany. Fourteen Nashoba students in grades 10–12 participated in the two-week experience, attending a local high school and staying with host families. These same German students had visited Nashoba in the fall, and now welcomed their American partners in return.

During the week, Nashoba students attended school alongside their hosts, shadowing them in classes and fully immersing themselves in German school and family life. On weekends and during school excursions, the group explored several cultural and historical sites, including Munich, Augsburg, Nymphenburg Palace, and the Munich Botanical Gardens. They also visited the Dachau Memorial Site, an important and reflective part of the experience.

The group was fortunate to enjoy beautiful weather throughout their stay. In preparation for the exchange, students completed an extensive historical project, which helped them qualify for a GAPP grant. While at school in Germany, Nashoba students were actively engaged in classes and were often sought out to contribute to discussions in history, politics, German, and English courses.

This meaningful exchange was an incredible experience for all involved and reflects every value outlined in the Portrait of a Nashoba Graduate.

NRHS Robotics

Nashoba Robotics capped off its New England District season with an impressive performance at the New England District Championship in Springfield, Massachusetts. The three-day event brought together 100 of the region’s top teams, divided into two competitive field divisions.

Competing in the Burns Division, Team 1768 delivered an outstanding showing in qualification matches, finishing in first place on their field. Entering the elimination rounds as alliance captains, Nashoba Robotics selected a strong group of partners: Team 5687, The Outliers from Portland, Maine; Team 9644, NEIA Robotics from Marlborough, Massachusetts; and backup Team 8724, Mayhem Robotics from Bedford, New Hampshire.

The alliance had an extremely strong performance in the playoffs, with Nashoba Robotics leading the group to victory in their division and earning the New England district high score. Advancing to the championship round, Team 1768’s alliance faced the winners of the opposing division and emerged victorious, earning the title of New England District Champions.

In addition to their on-field success, Nashoba Robotics received the Quality Award and secured a spot at the FIRST World Championship in Houston, Texas. With this performance, Team 1768 now stands as the top-ranked team in New England by district points.

Stay tuned for an update from Houston!
