Lower School - 10/23
Lower School Update - October 23, 2025
FROM THE PRINCIPAL'S DESK
Dear Lower School Families,
As the seasons change and the leaves remind us of God’s artistry in creation, our classrooms and hallways are alive with that same sense of transformation. We’ve reached the point in the school year when routines are established, friendships are deepening, and the growth we prayed for at the start of the year is beginning to show.
Our teachers are intentionally helping every student move from surviving to thriving. Whether in math class, chapel, or the Maker Space, students are being guided to think deeply, act courageously, and live compassionately. They are not just memorizing facts—they’re learning to apply wisdom, collaborate effectively, and solve problems that matter.
Parents often tell us they can feel the difference here, and that is by design. Every child is known, prayed for, and encouraged to grow spiritually, intellectually, and emotionally. We also want you to know that YOUR presence matters. It’s what gives Maranatha its heartbeat. Whether you're cheering from the sidelines, volunteering at events, speaking at a lower school chapel, or simply praying for our students, please know how deeply we value your partnership. Together, we’re modeling for our students what it looks like to build a life—and a community—on Christ, the Rock.
As we look toward Thanksgiving and the second quarter, we’re reminded that this is a time to pause and give thanks for how far we’ve come—and to prepare our hearts for what God has ahead. From upcoming concerts and service opportunities to our academic milestones, there is so much to celebrate.
We are continually inspired by your children—their creativity, their faith, and their growing sense of purpose. Thank you for entrusting us with their education and spiritual formation. It is a sacred partnership and one we hold with great gratitude.
In His Service,
Dr. Rachel David
Lower School Principal

STAFF INTRODUCTIONS
Whitney Warner (2nd Grade Teacher)
Hi, MCA Families!
My name is Whitney Warner, and I have had the privilege of serving MCA’s 2nd grade families for the past four years. There is something truly special about the children who walk through our doors each day, and I feel so blessed to play a small part in their growth—both academically and in their love for the Lord.
Outside of school, I love going on walks with my husband, Nick, and our pug, Talia. We enjoy exploring our neighborhood, trying out different coffee shops, and spending time with friends and family.
Teaching at MCA is one of my greatest joys. I strive to create a calming classroom environment where students feel valued and confident in who God has made them to be. I’m looking forward to continuing our year full of learning, laughter, and watching each child grow into the unique person God has designed them to become!

COUNSELOR CONNECTION
Monthly Focus: October is National Bullying Awareness Month
We invite you to partner with us in talking with your children about the difference between a conflict, a mean moment, and a bullying situation. The word “bully” is often used too quickly and can create confusion or even hurt feelings among classmates. It’s important to help children understand the difference between moments of conflict and true bullying by talking through examples together. When students can recognize what’s happening, they learn how to be both problem-solvers and upstanders in a kind and respectful way.
Matthew 5:9 — “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God.”
Upcoming Events:
In October, I’ll be visiting our K–Grade 4 classrooms for our "Bullying Awareness" guidance lesson. During this lesson, students will learn:
Definition of Bullying
Types of Bullying
The Impact of Bullying
Steps to Recognize, Report, and Refuse Bullying
Counselor Resources:
Check out these resource guides below that focus on bullying prevention strategies:

CHAPEL HIGHLIGHTS
Grandparents Day
This week in chapel, we began by worshiping together with many grandparents who joined us for a special celebration. It was a beautiful time of praise and connection across generations.
After worship, Jack, the grandson of Mr. Harshbarger —one of our Bible teachers here at MCA—read a book called How to Babysit Your Grandpa. His reading reminded us of the special bond and joy shared between grandparents and grandchildren.
Mr. Harshbarger then shared a message about how grandparents have a unique opportunity to plant the Word of God in the hearts of their grandchildren. As described in Mark 4:26-27, the kingdom of God grows quietly and steadily when the seed—the Word—is planted in good soil.
Grandparents help plant these seeds of faith by sharing God’s love, wisdom, and prayers, trusting that God will nurture growth in His perfect timing.
We are grateful for the grandparents who faithfully sow God’s Word into the lives of our students, knowing that these seeds will grow into a lasting faith.
WEEKLY PRAYER
Prayer for Families
Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank You for giving me a family who loves me and for grandparents who help me learn about You. I’m grateful for the ways they teach me about Your truth and Your love.
Please plant Your Word deep in my heart and help it grow strong. Help me to remember Your promises and to trust You every day. Fill my heart with Your truth so I can make good choices and live the way You want me to.
Thank You for blessing my grandparents, parents, and teachers with wisdom and patience as they guide me. Please give them strength, joy, and peace as they teach me about You and pray for me.
Help my whole family to grow closer to You together. Teach us to love one another and to show Your kindness to everyone around us.
Please help me to share Your love with others. Thank You for always being with me, listening to my prayers, and helping me grow in faith.
In Jesus’ name I pray,
Amen.
