Parents,
During the first semester, we have been focusing on our Benchmark Assessments to better understand and support our students' learning needs. We noticed that our students were not scoring well on these assessments and often struggled with the types of questions being asked. Interestingly, these results did not always align with their FastBridge scores or Kansas Assessment Program (KAP) state assessment scores.
After conducting a thorough data dive, we identified the issue and sought expertise from a KSDE resource and our Benchmark Advance representative. With their insights, alongside valuable teacher feedback, we realized that we were not using the assessments as effectively as we could to guide instruction.
As a result, we have updated our assessment procedures across all classrooms to better align with best practices and truly focus on what is best for our students. These changes will help ensure that our assessments serve as a more accurate and helpful tool to support student learning.
