Meet the New Staff for 2026-2027
Character - Community - Excellence
We would like to welcome our new staff to Legacy Academy! During the interview process, they expressed wanting to join our team because they saw the value we put in Character, Community, and Excellence. We asked each person to provide us with a short bio to introduce them to our families. Please join us in welcoming them to the Legacy community! Be on the lookout for another newsletter introducing more of our new staff in the next few weeks.
Annie Booth - Front Office
Annie has worked with students in both the Los Angeles and Denver areas and is excited to bring her experience to the school community. She loves being able to use her organizational and administrative skills in the front office while still having the opportunity to build meaningful relationships with students, families, and staff. For Annie, one of the most rewarding parts of working in a school is being someone others can count on—whether that means helping a student, supporting a teacher, welcoming a family, or simply making someone’s day a little easier.
She is incredibly excited for this new opportunity and looks forward to supporting the school, getting to know the students and families, and becoming part of such a wonderful community. Go Wildcats!
Briana Castro - Music
My name is Briana Castro and I can't wait to be a part of Legacy's growing music department this year! I've been an elementary music teacher for two years before this and came all the way from Moline, IL. I graduated with a Bachelor of the Arts from Augustana College and my passion is music and singing. I can't wait to get to know everybody and become a part of this community!
Andi Marcove - 5th Grade
Hi there! I’m Andi Marcove, and I’ll be teaching 5th grade at Legacy Academy this year. I hold a bachelor’s degree in History with a minor in Legal Studies. This is my first year as a lead teacher, and I’m thrilled to take this next step in my education career. Before joining the wonderful team at Legacy, I had the privilege of serving for several years in the Douglas County School District.
Outside the classroom, I’m a mom of two, Reeve and Gaia-Rae. I enjoy spending time with my horses, Tyson and Mae Bacon, playing with my dog, Blue Belle, and my cat, Mr. Maxwell. I also love mountain biking and hiking.
My goal is to enrich students’ lives and help them grow not only in knowledge, but also as kind and capable people. I believe social-emotional support is just as important as academic instruction. I value treating others with kindness and respect, and I strive to create an inclusive, welcoming classroom for every student.
My favorite part of elementary education is building strong relationships with each child and supporting them in whatever matters most to them—whether that’s academics, sports, music, art, or any other interest. I learn so much from my students, and I look forward to continuing to learn from your children.
Aliana Powers - Front Office
Hi! I am a mom of four with kids in kindergarten, 2nd, 4th, and 6th grade. Our family just moved to Elizabeth from Massachusetts this summer. We're excited to be settling into our new community and getting to know everyone, and I am thrilled to be a part of the Legacy team. I love traveling, going for walks, and country music. A fun fact about me is that I grew up in Hawaii!
Tabatha Waymire - Kindergarten
Hello everyone, my name is Mrs. Waymire and I am excited to be teaching Kindergarten this year here at Legacy Academy. I moved here in 2024 from Southeast Oklahoma. I have been teaching for 9 years. I have my Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education and Elementary Education. In my spare time, I love thrifting, kayaking, fishing, hiking and riding dirt bikes. I believe every student is capable of great things, and I am excited to help them grow as they reach their full potential.
Bree Cochran - Reading Specialist
Hi! I'm Bree, and I'm excited to join the Legacy Academy team as a Reading Specialist. I have a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education and a master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction with a specialization in reading, along with K-12 Reading and K-6 Elementary Education credentials. I'm passionate about helping students become stronger, more confident readers by identifying what they need and providing the right support to help them move forward. One of my favorite parts of teaching is seeing that moment when something finally "clicks" for a student. I'm looking forward to getting to know the students, families, and staff at Legacy Academy!
Emma Fletcher - 5th Grade
I’m excited to begin my first year teaching 5th grade here at Legacy, especially since it also marks my return home to Elizabeth after living away for the past 8 years. For some of this time, I was teaching middle school health and science, and studying the wonderful world of Biochemistry. I earned my bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry from Arizona State University (Go Sun Devils!) and I love bringing curiosity, hands‑on learning, and real‑world connections into the classroom. Outside of school, I’m an avid ultramarathon runner and spend most of my free time on the trails with my Dutch Shepherd mix. When I’m not running, you can usually find me reading, lifting weights, training in kickboxing and jiu‑jitsu, and of course, grading papers. I’m grateful to be part of this team and look forward to a year full of character, community and excellence.
Kelli Matott - 5th Grade
My name is Kelli Matott, and I live in Kiowa with my husband and our two sons, Cooper (7th grade) and Trey (3rd grade). I grew up in a military family and lived in many places growing up including Japan and Saudi Arabia. I graduated from high school in Colorado Springs and went on to the University of Northern Colorado to earn my degree in Elementary Education. I taught 4th grade for 10 years and then stayed home with my 2 sons, Cooper and Trey while they were little. We have loved homeschooling for the past 7 years and during that time I helped start a homeschool co-op and led the history program. I truly love seeing children develop a passion for learning! My family has a small herd of cattle and we also raise a few 4H steers that the boys show at the county fair. Some of my other interests include hiking, biking, swimming, reading, baking, gardening, and traveling.
Christen Owen - Middle School Math
I grew up in Indiana and after graduating from Purdue University, I moved to Colorado. I have 28 years experience of teaching middle school math and love my profession! I also have a Masters in Education with an Emphasis in Technology. I have three grown children who also live in Colorado. As a family, we love to spend time in the mountains camping, hiking, fly fishing and skiing.
Dr. Libby Bailey - Elementary Vice Principal
Legacy Academy is excited to welcome Dr. Libby Bailey as our new Elementary Assistant Principal. A Colorado native, Dr. Bailey is deeply committed to serving the community that has shaped both her personal and professional journey.

With more than 28 years of experience in education, Dr. Bailey has served in leadership roles across public, charter, and Christian school settings. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Human Development and Family Studies from Colorado State University, a master’s degree in Elementary Education, and a doctorate in Educational Leadership from the University of Northern Colorado.
Dr. Bailey is passionate about supporting teachers, strengthening instructional excellence, and helping every student grow and succeed. Her leadership is grounded in integrity, collaboration,
