SHS Community Newsletter
WEEK OF 9/29-10/3
Principal Update
Dear School Community,
The school year is off to a fast and exciting start! It’s been energizing to see our classrooms filled with learning and our activities and athletics in full swing.
Next week is Homecoming Week, and we invite everyone to join in the celebration. Our students have been working hard to plan fun events, and we encourage you to show your school spirit throughout the week. Please come out and support our student-athletes and performers at all the home events.
The festivities will culminate on Friday night at the football game versus Seaside, where we’ll celebrate our school community, recognize our students, and show what makes our school such a special place.
Please reference the sections below for important dates and events coming up soon. Our bell schedules are posted below, Doors Open at 7:30 AM, as well as a section for the phone policy. Families are encouraged to reference the district website for current information as well.
Go Indians!

PHONE POLICY
As part of Oregon’s commitment to improving student focus, well-being, and learning outcomes, Governor Tina Kotek issued Executive Order 25-09 on July 2, 2025. This mandate requires all K–12 public schools in Oregon to prohibit student cell phone use throughout the school day from the first bell through the last bell.
The bottom line:
Phones must be secured in their locker or backpacks during the entire school day.
Phones will not be used during passing time or lunch.
Students violating the order will have their phones confiscated:
- First offense: Student’s phone will be confiscated and taken to the security office, and the student can pick it up at the end of the school day.
- Second offense: Student’s phone will be confiscated and taken to the security office, and returned to the student at the end of the day. A communication will be sent to the parent/guardian.
- Additional offenses will result in a parent/guardian, student, and administrator conference.
Please call the office at 971-200-8005 to contact your student during the school day. We appreciate your cooperation and support in making Scappoose High School a more focused, connected, and engaging learning environment for every student.
