Reminder: Absence Policy

As we approach the end of the school year, we’d like to remind parents of our absence policy (JH), especially as final exams (June 15-18) approach.

  • Absence Approval Process: For any planned absence (other than illness), written approval must be obtained from the principal at least two weeks in advance. This includes family vacations, personal events, or other reasons. To request approval, please submit a written explanation to the principal, who will determine if the absence is excused.

  • Excused Absences: Excused absences include illness, recovery from an accident, court attendance, medical appointments, death in the immediate family, religious holidays, and mental health concerns. Supporting documentation may be required.

  • Final Exams: If your child will miss any exam days, upon approval, the school counselor will coordinate with the student and teachers to develop a plan for makeup work. Any work that cannot be completed by June 18 may need to be finished over the summer.

Thank you for your cooperation!

ParentSquare Communication Parent Plan

I’m happy to announce that we are adopting a new communications platform called ParentSquare. We are moving to ParentSquare for ease of use and for a consistent K-12 experience for families.

All district and school announcements and newsletters will be through ParentSquare beginning on July 1st. We will no longer be using S’more, Bloomz, or School Messenger for those one-way communications. We will continue to use email as our primary two-way communication tool.

You will receive an invitation to join ParentSquare on Monday, June 8th. When you receive that invitation, please click the link to activate your account. It will take less than a minute. You can use ParentSquare on any device. You can download the free mobile app for iOS and Android or use the desktop version at www.parentsquare.com.

With ParentSquare, you’ll be able to:

  • Receive all district, school, and classroom posts via email, text, or app.

  • View the school and classroom calendar and RSVP for events.

  • Easily sign up to volunteer and send items.

  • Use the app to get all district, school, and classroom posts in one place.

Starting in August, teachers will be trained on ParentSquare. Clark-Wilkins and Mont Vernon Village School teachers will have the option to use ParentSquare as a two-way communication tool like they do now with Bloomz. AMS and SHS teachers will continue to use email as the two-way communication tool.

Please keep an eye out for the invitation to join ParentSquare on Monday, June 8th. If you have any questions, please reach out to your school Principal.
